That is a real concern. The elderly are hurting the worst for money right now....
Minorities, elderly, and children hit hardest. And this time it’s not a joke. Minorities are more likely to live in the large urban heat islands in older buildings, the elderly are more likely to live in older homes, and the elderly and children are more susceptible to heat.
People are going to die come summer because of this insanity by the obastard administration.
IIRC this whole damned thing is a scam from back at the git-go in the sixties I believe as nobody knew what the stratospheric ozone condition was supposed to be, but the environmentalists assumed it was taking a hit from something, and came up with the HCFC theory.
That’s as I recall it. Hair spray, A/C Freon, refrigerators, Propellants of anykind with HCFC’s, Paint in spray cans at the time, etc. became evil as asbestos, lead, and mercury.
That's the best advice I can give you...go with a contractor you or your acquaintances have a history with.
ahh. I see. Yes I am in the field of ac, but in IN the field. Dispatch/office mgmt, and hubby is HVAC/R tech for 30 years now LOL. Thanks for the info.
Not if you have an R-22 system.
The “ozone depletion” argument is as big a scam as AGW. It has been thoroughly debunked but we are still suffering the consequences.
The EPA is totally out of control.
Our Co. Was paying $166./30 lb. Drum
Monday the price jumped to $280/
BTTT.
Goodman can use R-22 or R410-A
Ditto the question. Is it legal to sell if we have some?
I’m hearing pricing as high as 380.00 a drum.....
We’ll know better next week maybe.
If I have too I’ll go with two window units. I have about 1200 sq ft too cool and could easilly get by cooling 800. The biggie of course is it cost more on the electric bill usually to go that route. The furnace is electric so no problem on that end.
I wouldn’t. I think you have to have an EPA certification to buy or sell it. The mark of the beast it is!
Gemaire and Johnstone Supply are selling single jugs of R-22 for $375 as of this afternoon in South Florida.
You're welcome..I've got 37 years in it myself.
Check the energy ratings on the new units. Some of them are amazing. Your electric bills could go DOWN if you have an older unit, small house and energy efficient window units. Damn, we are gonna go out of business :(
You have to be licensed to buy it, not sell it.
The rules wouldn’t apply to an individual selling a small amount anyway.
Holy smokes! Thats awful! It was like 145.00 a couple weeks ago. I was beating them up to get it under 150 and I did LOL. Holy moly, I remember when it was 3 bucks a lb!
Gold per oz, Freon per oz. Follow the money and see who has it for sale. Find out the ticker symbols if there are any on the market and see if Al Gore or Pelosi et al have any “investments” in “blind trusts” that are gonna make them a killing on this. Probably Soros too.
Not gonna be good for business. Not at all....
You are correct. I am a wholesaler.
Last Friday single drums were selling for $145.
On Monday they went up to $189 per drum.
By mid-week to $300.
Today it is $375-$378 per single drum.
Service rates have spiked to $60-$70 per pound.
By next week it could easily climb to $400 per single drum of imported R-22, domestic R-22 is even higher.
