It was probably once someone’s beloved, beautiful kitty; just as pretty as our kitty kats that we have now. I’ll bet the kitty’s owner wondered what ever happened to her cat. Sad.

That’s a way bigger cat than just a housecat.
Otherwise it’d be in the house, snacking in the kitchen rather than hiding out in the attic. Looks like an eastern Bobcat.
