In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
argosy (AHR-GUH-see) noun
1. A large ship, or a fleet of ships, especially one carrying valuable cargo.
2. A rich source or supply.
Example sentences:
"Shylock: He hath an argosy bound to Tripolis, another to the Indies."
---William Shakespeare; The Merchant of Venice; 1596.
"We get a little bit detective story, a little bit gossip, and an argosy of insight."
---Amy Wallen; Book Review: 'Nom de Plume'; Los Angeles Times; Aug 8, 2011.
Etymology:
Shortening of Italian nave Ragusea (ship of Ragusa), after Ragusa, a maritime city on the Adriatic sea, modern day Dubrovnik, Croatia. Earliest documented use: 1577.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
yep!
pinging my stoner pals... there was a hilarious greg guttfield tweet yesterday, he told Dana Perino that Demi Moore was hospitalized for doing whippets, she said “the dogs?” LMAO!
Thanks for the overview-I think I’ll pass on that one. Maybe I can find a copy of Ira Levin’s “This Perfect Day”-a novel of a nanny/totalitarian future world-but with heroes and a happy ending. The hero and heroine call themselves Chip and Lilac...
Saw that. Didn’t know there was a dog called that.
I guess you never worked the graveyard shift at a place that makes its own whipped cream and had a big old tank of nitrous oxide in the back?
Please pardon my ignorance, but the only whippet I’m familiar with is the sight hound that looks like a smaller greyhound. I’m really not up on the newest stoner terms, but whipped cream and nitrous sounds like some kind of laughing meth.

Please pardon my double post, as well...
So, you voted with the Obamamites... ;)
I suppose it is a hair ornament of some sort-it looks like something a Victorian-era woman would wear-she’s never had very good taste, in my opinion-always sort of dowdy/tacky...
It’s laughing gas. Nitrous oxide. Usually in small cylinders used for a brief high. Gives you a headache if done repeatedly.
At the restaurant, we had a giant cylinder used for making whipped cream.
Thank you! It does not sound like a very smart thing to do. My mom told my brother and I about college parties she’d gone to where little vials of amyl nitrate-”poppers”-were offered along with the beer and other alcohol. That didn’t sound like something I’d want to do, either...
A tiara? And those earrings look like gauges.
Uh yeah, that would be referred to as a “Glamour Don’t”!
A+ for you, hectic times here.
