Morning Jolt - Vanity
Email | 01/23/12 | Jim Geraghaty

From today's Morning Jolt by Jim Geraghty. Some food for thought.

Fox News, 1/12-1/14:
Obama, fav/unfav, 51%/46%, +5
Romney, fav/unfav, 45%/38%, +7
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 27%/56%, -29

CBS/NYT, 1/12-1/17:
Obama, fav/unfav, 38%/45%, -7
Romney, fav/unfav, 21%/35%, -14
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 17%/49%, -32

PPP, 1/13-1/17:
Obama, app/dis, 47%/50%, -3
Romney, fav/unfav, 35%/53%, -18
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 26%/60%, -34

America does not love Romney, but boy do they hate Newt.

Please note that I'm not posting this as an endorsement of Romney. Now that Perry is out of the race I'm supporting Santorum.

Folks need to think long and hard about supporting Newt. There are some very good reasons why most people considered his candidacy a joke just a short while ago.

Why do you find that so interesting? I'm not in the habit of letting other people think and decide for me. Are you?

Yeah, we saw how much love the American people had/have for Obama in 2010. They loved him sooo much that they took 700 seats away from him and his dem. buddies in the last election. Now that’s real love....!

We know the press loves him but the American people have nothing but the utmost contempt for the man and they let him know just how much in the las election.

The fact that propaganda is effective should not surprise anybody who pays attention. Not that the propaganda contains truth. The public has been misled, in a big way. Heck, it went for Obama, did it not?

Yeah. What I do is look for FR posts that show me who has the highest unfavorable ratings. Especially if that person is on a roll. And then I make sure not to vote for him. Thanks for your help.

Those people aren't laughing so much now. Those people are the same type who thought Ronald Reagan was a joke. The joke's on them. Newt is a flawed individual but people can relate to being down and coming back. Polls are snapshots of the present and Newt has proven he can take a punch and keep standing and that he can reverse polls. He has the fire in the belly...something Mitt nor Obama has.

Like Juan Williams and Charles Krauthammer? They look pretty stupid now, for a couple of brilliant political analysts.

Apples and oranges. People didn’t know President Reagan like they already know Newt. Normal people didn’t hate Reagan. Newt is hated by a lot of people on both sides of the aisle and for good reason. Hell it was just a little over two years ago that he was telling Tea Party folks to shut up and sit down and vote for Dede Scozzafava. Remember? God help us.

No. Like most of the people on FR. Check out some threads.

Apples and oranges my foot.

Or did you forget that Reagan was and actor and Governor of California and was WIDELY known by nearly everyone in the U.S. for quite a while.

Reagan definitely was NOT an ‘Unknown’ by any stretch of the imagination.

It just amazes me how people like you want to ignore the obvious just to bash the one you don’t like.

How about showing some positives of Santorum’s...

Like, maybe you know, what is he going to DO if elected President.

Because frankly, I haven’t seen a thing yet.

Neither him or Romney has said what they are going to do or what policies they plan to enact. They just keep repeating the same platitudes over and over of how they are better for the U.S. without any substance behind them.

All fluff and no stuff...

I'm not in the habit of letting other people think and decide for me.

Neither am I, which is why a "likability" poll of several hundred sheeple, selected God knows how, has exactly zero impact on my vote.

Unbelievable is right..

You don’t think these polls aren’t ‘fixed’ to make Obama look good?

It’s B.S.

Read this FR link from 2009 discussing the Carter/Reagan race.

Carter at 57%?

Sure.. And I’ve got a bridge to sell you too..
