Cruise ship passengers don’t strike me as adrenaline junkies, I imagine that more than a few little old ladies, kids and moms and others, may never want to sail again. This was nasty business.

Offering them a chance to try again at 30% off, as soon as they can find all the bodies and get the dead buried, and replace the sunken ship, seems to reveal a management that is out of touch with reality.

They don't even have to. Costa's a pretty big outfit. They have 9 or 10 other ships the size of the Concordia. That said, the offer is very odd and extremely ill-timed.

I hope at least everyone will be reimbursed for their lost possessions and the full price of the cruise. How they settle with the families of the deceased, of course, is a different matter.

Costa has a long history and a very good reputation -- I can't imagine they'd want to squander it. But will be interesting to see if they do. Carnival may well be calling the shots.
