I think Romney has been revealed to be terminally weak, and one thing america does not need at this time is weak.
I think you’re right and those watching the last debate saw it in spades. How could a supposedly sharp financier be so unprepared to espouse his beliefs after all these years of campaigning for the Presidency?
I’m of the same opinion as Sabato. Santorum needs to go.
I am truly surprised that he and his advisers have not developed a way in which he can put his tax returns out for public perusal without there being a political problem. After all, he has had four years to prepare for this eventuality.
Everyone involved in poltical races knows that ‘appearances’ carries a great deal of importance in political races.
Someone on another thread here said that Romney’s investments are in a blind trust.
I say, “So what?”
Voters just want the truth. Put the tax returns out there, so everyone knows who and what you are fiscally, Mitt Romney.
After all, you’re asking us to vote for you for President, and thus you’re asking us to trust you. It must be reciprocal: trust us, too.
If you are unable to trust the voters, then get the Hell out of the race!
Satin,
He may be hiding just who he has been donating his charitable contributions to and thus doesn’t want the electorate to know. Planned Parenthood perhaps? And BTW what would the LDS Church have to say about that? The word has been made plain regarding abortion from them over the years. So how does Romney get away with that kind of support anyway?
I believe that the integrity of elections right here in the USA is going in the toilet.
IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY, we will soon have presidents pre-selected, and it won't matter at all what is in the ballot boxes ---- I believe this, anyway.
“He may be hiding just who he has been donating his charitable contributions to...”
Exactly.
He has something to hide or he would be up front and transparent with his tax returns. Lord knows, he has had enough time to prepare for this political race, hasn’t he?
It isn’t as though Mitt Romney was unaware that he would have to go public with those documents, right?
If he couldn’t even plan for this tiny eventuality, why should we trust him to manage the government as our top executive, President of the United States?
Ah, Iowa. Having lived there in years past and participated in a caucus, I can tell you ours turned-out to be a slap-dash operation as I recall. It was in and out with very little in the way of any candidate’s supporters soliciting for their guy. Those of us supporting Jack Kemp (was it?) moved to one corner of the room while the others migrated to another corner as the votes were recorded by voice. There is no guarantee that those voice votes were properly managed, counted and forwarded to the State GOP Secretary. The fact that other than Republicans can vote in a Republican Caucus in my book negates the value of Iowa’s participation.
Right or wrong, Sabato is a pain in the arse.
In a Parliamentary system, Romney would have an excellent shot of forcing his way into the premiership. He’s half liberal, half conservative. (Well, that’s being generous)
But we’re electing a PRESIDENT here.
I think the X factor is Mitt’s high ranking status as a Bishop in the Mormon Church and the tens of millions he has given over to them in cash and stocks.
The more I learn about this group, the scarier it gets.
I have to ponder, what does Santorum want?
He’s not going to be the nominee, so what’s his purpose for staying in?
What does he hope to gain?
The Cayman Island bank accounts are the deal killer.
Yes, it’s legal, but it’s also the way to protect money from lawsuits.
It's the first round in a caucus state. There are probably two more meetings with proportionately fewer reps.
Iowa is actually one of the last states to actually pick their delegates.

Aaaah. Lest we forget Santorum's endorsement of Arlen "Not proven" Spector.
Santorum is an establishment Republican.
The establishment is counting on Santorum to split the conservative vote and Rick will oblige them.
yitbos
Agreed. Unfortunately, the establishment can give Santorum a guarantee. Newt can only offer a probability.

Can’t we just get his tax returns from the LDS?
As far as I know LDS members are required to show their tax returns to their church to ensure that they tithe the appropriate amount.
Of course I’m joking but you have to admit Joseph Smith/Brigham Young came up with one of the best scams of all time.
Then, Santorum has to decide which team he’s on...the establishment’s or the conservative’s.
It will be interesting to see his decision.
Just a symptom of the ADD media. Romney didn’t win Iowa so his ‘momentum’ was mostly just media hype.
