Is Glen Beck being hysterical here or is this a case of Newt flip-flopping? More importantly, is Beck over the top? And if not Newt, who does he think will best Obama in the general?

Posting “controversial articles” on FR doesn’t always mean that the poster is trolling nor is he actively (24/7) attacking our favorite candidate(s) in this heated primary season. His posting history would show what’s what. That said, I don’t know the posting history here.

He’s just telling the truth.

Conservatives are selling their souls.

Glenn Beck wants a Mormon in office. He’ll do or say anything to accomplish it.

He’s nutso about the primary, off the deep end.

For some reason. Maybe it’s a Mormon thing.

I like Beck a lot, so it bugs me when he gets overwrought and misses the context.

I remember when he interviewed Palin and was disturbed when she couldn’t name her favorite Founding Father. He had done a really good series of shows on the Founders which were in my opinion excellent. No one does on TV the kinds of things Beck was doing, and it was great in my opinion. If you watched his show regularly, you knew what he was driving at.

If you didn’t, and he asked you who was your favorite founder, you’d probably fumble like she did. He has since warmed up to her, but I remember for a while he was suspicious of her.

Similarly, if you have followed Gingrich, you know that complimenting his opponents is classic Gingrich. He compliments them, quotes approvingly from their books, and uses their own words to present his own case in contradiction to theirs. It gets him in trouble sometimes, sometimes it falls a bit flat, but when he is on top of his game it is masterful to watch.

What we need is a debate on WHAT is a conservative. It needs to be defined again. Some people are mixed up about it.

A lot people say they are conservatives, but then look at what they are for????

It seems that's a BIG PART of WHY we cannot get the RIGHT guy in office. It's also why our Republic continues to drift to the left.... and will continue unless this is clear and concise. I do understand to finding the purest conservative is difficult. Pretty much ever Republican Candidate has some LEFTIST ideas.

Think about this...

Bush 41 and 43 were a labeled a Conservatives to some people.

Newt is considered conservative to some people

Ron Paul is considered conservative.

Heck Ann Coulter thinks Mitt Romney is enough of a conservative that she supports him.

Plus there is a lot of misinformation on what is Left vs. Right. For instance, whenever Socialist/Communist can't win an argument they attack the Conservative by calling him Nazi. The Nazis as most of us already know were National Socialist. So to say a Right Left wing is absurd, wrong and only a smear tactic.

At any rate it needs to be redefined so that everyone is on the same page. This IMHO is why we cannot seem to get a real Conservative in the White House. IMHO we have NOT had a conservative since Ronald Reagan.

Glenn Beck is a fool. And he has distorted what Newt was referring to with FDR, Woodrow Wilson, and Andy Stern. Newt does not and did not prescribe to what accomplishments these jackass did but to the fact that they were all very individually strong. He was saying that a President must be strong.

Newt is like that way. And with his conservative Constitutional ways he will be remembered as one of the true savior of America and its return to the values of our founders.

I believe that Beck is sincere in his love of country and his hatred for progressives and what they have done to our Republic.

That said, these days his radio program with his co-hosts is often little more than some pubescent boys' gossip circle jerk.

We may be being fooled just has Beck believes. If that is the case, it will come out during the full frontal assault, drive by and guerrilla vetting Gingrich will get during the coming months.

To: Steelfish; word_warrior_bob; risen_feenix; EnglishCon; Bill W was a conservative; verga; ...

Look at their accomplishments. Newt allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority (together the Reagan Revolution) which directly led the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.

Romney, on the other hand, vehemently denied Ronald Reagan and aligned himself with Ted Kennedy and the left. Romney accomplished installing liberal big government programs, defended and promoted Roe v Wade and legalized abortion as “settled law,” advocated and implemented RomneyCare with its liberty killing government mandates against formerly free citizens and its taxpayer funded or subsidized and mandated abortion procedures. He ran and governed to the left of Ted Kennedy on the “gay agenda” resulting in gay marriage in Massachusetts. He appointed liberal judges and liberal appointees throughout his government. Under his “leadership” conservatism and the Republican party was all but destroyed in Massachusetts.

Romney is one evil liberal progressive. No way in hell will MittBots be allowed to support this abortionist, big government, socialist scumbag on FR!

Guess my message isn’t clear enough. I have to keep repeating it and zotting would be MittBots.

LOL! Any post that doesn’t march in lock-step with Newtards must be banned! When the Newties fail to counter, they want to call in the ban squad...just like the FRedheads.

What issues matter to conservatives any more?

First Amendment? Nope...Newt was a co-sponsor of the “Fairness Doctrine”.

Second Amenment? Nope...Newt supported anti-gun regulation and earned a “D” from the GOA in 1996.

Right-to-Life? Nope...Newt supports federally funded abortions.

Healthcare? Nope...Newt supported Romneycare, single-payer government-mandated healthcare, was a paid lobbyist supporting the prescription drug program, and supported DNA testing of all US citizens.

Jobs and Economy? Nope....newt supported NAFTA, GATT, the IMF, foreign aid, TARP, voted for increasing the debt ceiling many times, and a “path to citizenship” for illegals.

Newt co-sponsored the Global Warming Prevention Act of 1989, supported “Cap and Trade”, lobbied for ethanol subsidies, and wants to expand and rebrand the EPA.

What in the hell is “conservative” about that record of “accomplishment”????

In a limited sense, Beck’s right.

I’m been posting for a while, that Newt considers himself an historic figure, a great man. He routinely compares himself to Churchill, the Duke of Wellington, Thatcher, Washington, FDR, Reagan, Lincoln- et al-— all iconic figures.

And that’s why I’m voting for him.

In 2013, there will be only one path to greatness, and that’s to return the country to a constitutional republic. Since Newt’s ego cannot allow him anything but greatness, that’s how I know that he will lead the country in a conservative direction. He has no other choice-he’s pinioned by his ego.

And yesterday, on cue, he said this:

“I am running to fundamentally change the entire structure of power in Washington D.C., to move this country back to the Constitution, back to the Declaration of Independence, back to the principles that have made America historically great,” he said to enthusiastic applause.

“So I am happy for the academic left, most of the elite media, and virtually all of the left-wing Democrats to understand: this campaign is about the end of their dominance of the United States and the development of a new center of power called the citizens, in which we take power away from Washington and return it back home. It is that simple.”

I have no doubt– that’s exacting what he intends to do—make wholesale historic change—and that’s why the Establishment and their minions hate and fear him— because they can’t control him.
