I recall back in Junior High I found a mistake a teacher made grading an exam. I showed him that my answer was correct. He said fine, but he said he was not going to change my grade anyway, just “to teach me that life was not fair”.

Actually I had the opposite happen to me. A student came up after class and said that I gave him credit for an answer he got wrong.

I double checked it, and he was right, I had given him two points he did not earn.

I looked up at him and said,"Two points for honesty", and kept the grade as it was.

Heh - the same thing happened to me. But he marked the entire class wrong. We showed him where he was wrong, etc. He agreed with our arguments and that we were right and that he was wrong. But then he also said he wasn’t going to go change all the grades - “Hey - this is a good lesson for you “Life isn’t fair.” But - it was perhaps one of the most important lessons that I learned in school. (And knowing him, I have a feeling that in the semester grades he did take it into consideration).

They only thing you teacher taught you is how lazy, incompetent and dishonorable public school teachers are.

My son had high school teachers, more than once, who made mistakes on tests and changed it for him when confronted but who did not change the grade in their grade books. Also they would make mistakes in averaging his final grade for the class and not change it on the transcript at the office after admitted they had made the mistake.

He had to keep his own organized paper trail and set of grade books and go to the office multiple times to make things right. I would not let him give up and give into any of that abuse.

Turned out it was a game being played by group of dyke teachers trying to harm the college potential of male atheletes. They did other stuff to them too like marking them absent without an excuse when they were in class, etc., etc. They finally got nailed.
