Drudge Report this morning Jan. 18: From information in some tax reports released, showing Romney gave $4 million + to LDS church during past 5 years, plus shares and stakes in Bain holding companies including Burger King, Domino's, etc.

So? With all that’s wrong with Mitt, we’re supposed to be concerned that he gives money to his church??
I would not touch this. It is a religious freedom issue and it is a trap.
If he believes in tithing and he makes 20 million a year, then he would be giving 2 million a year to his church.
Leave this one alone. It is protected by the first amendment and conservatives will look stupid opposing the first amendment.
Also a lot of information in the story about his hierarchy in the LDS church, including requirement for time committment, etc.
I agree.
I don’t mind his tithing to his church, but there is much more to it — read the article. I’m not so sure Romney wants to be president as much as the LDS wants him to.
What a man does with money he earns is nobody’s business or concern. Except of course the liberal media.
One might not agree with the religion but we are getting on a slippery slope here if we are going to make an issue of his donating to his church.
I agree, I’m not touching it either and for the reasons you stated.
Hillary used underwear donation = good
Good for him.
How much did Obama give to Jeremiah Wright’s church?
I care not how much he tithes to his church. Read the article.
I despise the man but I don’t care about what he gives to his church!
My advice is stay far away from this sort of criticism!
This is probably one of his biggest concerns as far as releasing his taxes. It won’t look good to John Q. Public when combined with the stories Obama will slip into the media about Mormons.
Amen to both of you.
MR is not my guy, but for real reasons. Not this.
I told ya this is why he didn’t want to release his returns.
Sure he has the right to give to whoever he wants. But I have the right to conclude what it means so I, and millions of others, can cast an informed vote.
This is simple. You want the real POTUS to be Thomas S. Monson? Well . . . then vote Mitt Romney.
This would make the Obama disaster pale in comparison . . . and boy is that saying something. Come on SC. We are counting on you.
The issue is not how much he personally give to his church from his personal fortune, but how much influence the church is garnering through his Bain holdings, etc.
Yes, I did read the article. Are you driving at that he donated shares of companies that he owned while at Bain rather than cash because there is nothing sinister with this. It happens all the time where shares rather than cash is donated to a church or a college endowmwnt fund. It has to do with the cost basis of the donor from a tax perspective.
This is wrong how?
I thought we’re supposed to denigrate Mormonism, not Mormons?
