I said, “since”. That should tell you something about the successive PM’s, imo.

The reason why the Avro was killed, was because the US military was wanting to move away from manned jets to missiles, or so they said anyways. That pretty much left us high and dry as far as jet-plane development goes. We would have spent billions and had nothing to show for it. It wasn’t viable, regardless of how good it was.

You are wrong about why the Arrow was killed. That plane was developed for a specific Canadian requirement. It was not developed to be sold to the US, although I'm sure AVRO would have sold the Americans as many as they wanted.

Look at how the Arrow was killed. Why cut up the prototypes and scrap them? Why send all that engineering talent to the four winds? Why not continue the project, maybe on a smaller scale? A lack of vision killed the Arrow, thank Dief.

I really don't want to get into an Arrow discussion, this is the wrong thread for that.
