3/26/61 "The Two's a Crowd Matter" Matter #733 Robert Readick Bill Lipton (Tony Valentine), Larry Haines (Lt. Randy Singer), Roger DeKoven (Sgt. Mike Thomason), Arthur Kohl (old man), Mandel Kramer (Oklahoma City Police Captain), Joseph Julian (Paul Ferris) ; Writer - Jack Johnstone ; Producer/ Director - Bruno Zirato, Jr. ; Musical Supervisor - Ethyl Huber ; Announcer - Art Hannes ; Expense Account Total = $379.50 ; "My job is to protect a wanted criminal from, believe it or not, a policeman." Paul Ferris of World Wide Mutual Insurance Company, New York City, calls Johnny to tell him that a man he helped to put away, "redlight bandit" (stops cars with a red police-like light) Tony Valentine, has escaped with another man, Sandy Rhinehart, and Sandy has killed a man named Barton Osborne in a hold-up. Johnny meets with Lieutenant Randy Singer and Officer Conroy. Sandy has been caught but Tony has escaped, probably to Overton, Oklahoma where his family owned the Bleeding Heart #1 Well. Also on Tony's trail is killer cop Sargent Mike Thomason, the nephew of the slain man. He will likely kill Tony if he catches him. The Oklahoma City Police Captain tells Dollar that Overton is 75-80 miles northwest. At an Overton railroad shack an old man says that he has seen Tony on his way to the Bleeding Heart Well. Just then Thomason shows up at the door with his gun drawn and threatens Johnny and the old man. As Thomason knocks down the old man Johnny punches him out. Dollar makes it to Valentine's shack and peers through the window to see him extract bags of loot from underneath floor boards. Johnny pulls a gun on him but Valentine refuses to go with him. Johnny suggests that he might leave Valentine to the killer cop. Thomason pulls up. Johnny sets the shack on fire and has Valentine show himself in the doorway to distract Thomason while he slips out the back and encircles Thomason. He succeeds and is able to subdue the cop. Valentine agrees to return to NYC with Dollar. Commercials : Dennis James for Kellogg's All-Bran, Commander. CBS Radio Network (Multi-Sponsored)
