I’m thinking that the Miss America bunch must be going broke. I remember seeing that in Florida a few years ago, just as their real estate market started crashing - there was a billboard by a builder that showed probably 2 dozen happy people in a new development. Not one of them “looked like America” (i.e., was black, brown, yellow, green, lavender, etc.). I was SHOCKED but figured that the builder must have been on life-support to take such a chance and didn’t really care if his life would be ruined.
Crap, where they’d import her from? I’ve seen the samples in Seattle and they certainly look like that.

A new friend just left a few hours ago, her four children playing with my two while us four adults enjoyed conversation rooted in deep conservative Christian values. A nice time. I bring it up in this thread, grinning that a few days back I discovered she was a Miss America semi-finalist.
In 1962 our babysitter, Joan Engh, finished second. She was a knockout. Unfortunately, I was only about 5-8 years old when she was babysitting me and my siblings. I had no idea at that time what her future would be except she looked pretty good.
An older lady’s husband was always going after much younger women. One of her friends asked, “Doesn’t it worry you that he’s always chasing young women like that?” She answered, “My dog chases cars, too, but if he ever catches one he’s not going to be able to drive it.”
Um, the brunette won. #2 was 5 ft. 2 Miss Oklahoma.
