I am seeking advice on a good AM/FM/mp3/CD portable radio. I have had several that are poor FM performers because of our location relative to hills, mountains and distance.
Size and weight are not issues if FM sensitivity is the best. Good sound quality, battery operation would be nice to have.
Biggest problem is not getting Talk Shows like/including RUSH.
Look for a Zenth 3000 transoceanic - they use a boatload of “D” batteries for field use but they last almost forever, just sip the juice. That one has AM and SW too, iirc. For home use you can hook up a good external. The sound quality is a lot better than modern radios, they stuffed a Jensen speaker there somehow. At the time they were probably the most expensive consumer radio around. Doctors, millionaires, jet-setters, mountain climbers, etc.
The thing is, you’ll want one that has been gone over by a tech and replaced certain capacitors and realigned the IF and RF circuits. The D7000Y is another good one.

...ah, you’ve hit on another problem, finding a good local tech, to do anything.
