I vaguely recall hearing the news when Speaker Sam died in Nov 1961. It was big news here in Texas.
Bonham TX is a lovely day drive away from Dallas. IIRC there is a very interesting replica pioneer stockade/fort right next to the Rayburn Museum/House.
