Amen. Retails stores are empty again, they won’t need those workers. So are restaurants. It’s pretty bad here. The only store doing a big biz is Target. I still can’t park anywhere near the entrance there.
Happily, there are no chain retail stores here, or we’d be in worse shape for job loss than we are. The only chain thing here is a Thousand Trails RV park that caters to summer people and snowbirds and has tourist trap shops, cabins and clubhouse, tame deer and ducks, etc .
Under normal circumstances, it is the only thing resembling a large employer here and is packed with tourists year round, but now it has let all but 8 people go because it is empty. High gas prices and no jobs up north means no snowbirds and RVs-actually no tourists, period. We are so dead that a general store-type business that had been open on the corner going to Thousand Trails for nearly 30 years closed last month. We are stagnant until we get a regime change in DC, lower gas prices and more private sector jobs in the northern states so the people can afford a winter vacation here. Then people in Texas can also afford a summer house up here again, and I’ll have real work like I did before Obama’s ruinous economy...
