Of course I’ll vote down ballot, but it will be up to Karl Rove and the Establishment to carry their boy Romney because I ain’t votin’ for him if he is the nominee.
There will be NO holding my nose and voting for Romney. There will be no, “where wlse will they go” voting. Where else will I go? I will leave that slot open and not cast a ballot.
Bob Dole
John McCain
Mitt Romney
I’m off the “be a good foot soldier” reservation.
>>...There will be NO holding my nose and voting for Romney...<<
I understand the frustration. So don’t vote “for” [whoever it is], instead vote “against” Obama.
I doubt Karl Rove and the Establishment has mesmerized you. You know Rove’s game. You know better than to buy what he’s pushing. At least I hope you do.
Here’s the hard, cold, really screwed-up fact: I doubt Rove can convince anyone who knows him like we do. If folks choose to side with Rove’s preferred pick, it’s because they want to. As much as I wish everyone was a freeper, we are probably *not* in the majority. Yet. I hope that changes.
If Romney is the nominee, it won’t be becasue Rove and the Establishment went around the country holding each voter at gunpoint until they check the box for Romney. In other words, Rove is a gas-bag and to him it’s all about the game, not necessarily what’s best for the country. But even Rove can’t falsify enough votes to get Romney the nomination on his own. He needs the electorate to either actually vote for Romney *or* get the vote counts so bloody close that an easily manufactured 8 votes will give Romney the nod.
Rove is a jerk. But our true problem is a lack of tea-party minded, conservative voters. If Romney gets the nod, it will be because we (the voters) voted for that greasy politi-slut. If the majority of voters select Romney in the primary, then that’s the way the system is supposed to work. We just need to grow more tea-party conservatives for next time. That is *our* job.
For a lot of folks this has turned emotional. Perhaps that is your situation. As for me, I’m looking at it as rationally as I can. In the primary, it’s “anyone but Romney”. In the general, it will be “anyone but Obama”. I will vote primarily to keep Obama from any possibility of nominating any more SCOTUS justices. I don’t care who the GOP candidate is at that point.
I can empathize with your point of view. I just can’t agree with it.
