NEW YORK (AP) - The price of The New York Times has gone up by 50 cents.
On New York City newsstands, the Times now costs $2.50 for the Monday through Saturday editions. That's the same price printed on its newspapers sold across the country.
Times spokeswoman Eileen Murphy says the big Sunday newspaper still costs the same: $5 in the New York area and $6 in the rest of the country. And the cost of digital subscriptions remains the same.
The price of home delivery is up by about 4 percent.
It's the newspaper's first price increase in more than two years. The Times declines to comment on the reason or on how much revenue it expects will be generated.
The change kicked in on Monday. Home delivery subscribers received a notice about six weeks ago.
Good News. Slow painful death
They are over charging for the digital copy. They may may have to pay for servers, but they dont have to pay for delivery trucks or newspaper stands or newspaper deliverers.
I didn’t know they were still in business.
“The Times declines to comment on the reason or on how much revenue it expects will be generated.” None from me, I am afraid..

They were bought out by the New York SLIMES.
They would have to pay me five bucks to touch a copy of their
Commie rag.
That’s bad news for people who have pet birds.
Got a flyer in the mail today offering me the Sunday edition of the NYT for “only” $3.90 for eight weeks. Don’t have a bird and, if I ever get one and need a liberal rag for its cage, we have plenty of such in Chicago.
I love banking money that I don’t spend especially when they increase the cost of what I don’t pay!
Hey, it works for the government why not the Times?
If you want more money just charge more. Except of course, for all those who’ll just give it up...
What moron would pay $6.00 for the NYT’s Sunday paper?
Not for poor people too?!
Most people buy those Sun papers to clip coupons for things that will save them 50cents for something they don’t need. Or $1.00 off some brand, when the brand they usually buy is still cheaper. Oh, but look at how much they saved??? lol. Go Figure.
Hell willbe froze over tighter than a Banjo string before I would buy the NYT if they sold for a dime.
Are we going to start boycotting it now? Oh, never mind.
I am 34 days away from outliving Marty Feldman.
Strangely compelling. Has its special place in the annals of taglines :-)
Won't impose myself on how this all came to be. By the reckoning of Marty Feldman's life span by which you measure your own mortality many of us would not be here now, as of this moment. You do realize you're going to have to change it everyday until....
I've made a note to look you up beyond 34 days to know you're alive and well. :-)
