Word For The Day, Tuesday, January 3, 2012
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
fusty{FUHS-tee}
-adj
1. Having a stale smell; moldy; musty.
2. Old-fashioned or out-of-date, as architecture, furnishings, or the like.
3. Stubbornly conservative or old-fashioned; fogyish.
[Fusty comes from the Old French word fust, meaning a wine cask. As wine casks are stuffy and smelly, the adjective is a logical association.].
Thanks for sharing.
The flood cleaned out a lot of that. ;^)
Actually, they have had domestics since the flood....a lot of tension here. I was on one such call. Actually, several domestics in the last year.
Lots of houses sit empty with power tools and building supplies inside. Who protects that? I have had a squad call where the cop got there before us and dislodged food from a choking man with the Heimlich.....the list goes on. One cop got in a boat and went to a house on the banks of the river during the flood and rescued a family. We love our police here.
i thought you’d want to know....
OMG............my eyes. I warn ya, don’t look, especially not at the enlarged photo.....manboobs may well be catching.
The last person I saw with a white coat performed a transplant of funds from my account to his. I still have my problems without my money, he still has his white coat with my money. “Fusty you musty not trusty men who are gusty”.
Scary isn’t it? Ron Paul.....I will have to ban TV till he is beaten back.
the manboobs are the least of it, that FACE is nightmarish.
THAT I have seen before. He is truly aging poorly for all his money.....it’s the drugs and the booze.
At present we have a two man station from the staties, but that is due to close this year. We have the county, but at night they have one guy covering the whole thing. Our local PD has one guy for the village overnight with two on during the early evenings. Coverage is spotty, no need to worry about speeding tickets. I am an EMT who goes out to all kinds of scenes. I love my police, all of them. I feel much safer with them here.
I am resigned to Romney, can’t say I have any passion involved in any of them.
Your $ is safe, I am just concerned with your fascination with snowmen, I prescribe a trip to an island with blue waters and white sands. ;^)
testing new tagline....it’s on my NOOK cover. I like it.
WOW. Caught on by their own camera? They are too stupid to be cops......I hope they go to jail. Think of the cases that will have to be thrown out now. Unbelievable.
Having dropped off my bid to my customer, I’m spending the rest of the day on myself-it is 58 asnd sunny here-the last couple of nights have been below freezing, but tonight is only going to be 40 or so...
I think that Newt is hoping
That no one digs too deep
And brings to mind once again
The secrets he wants to keep
That fusty Clinton-era stuff
Like turning victory to defeat
And competing with slick Willie
To service all the mares in heat
Most of us haven’t forgotten
That he didn’t serve that well-
When he reached across the aisle
He consigned his party to hell
Could be.
Good grief! There is just nothing dirtier than a dirty cop, is there? Is Utica still the City of Evil?
LOL...... I will give you an A+++ since SD doesn’t hand out grades. Love it.
Ya gotta laugh about it all, we are not getting a true conservative anywhere near the White House next year. Sad, but true.
