Yes. What do you suggest?...swift execution for an evil, cold-blooded cop killer.

This may be a rebroadcast of a special New Years BB show on Friday 1/1/10. Here's what I have archived for that date:
- 7:00p Jack Benny
12/31/39 Gladys Zybysko Disappoints Jack On New Year's Eve" (NBC)(29:45) Program #355 Jack Benny,Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Mary "Sadie Marx" Livingston, Dennis "McNaulty" Day, Blanche Stewart (Gladys Zybisco - her first appearance) ; Sponsor - Jello ; NBC ; The Orchestra plays "Do I Love You?" Jack tells jokes about the passing of time and then Don, Mary and Phil go into a bits about calendars. Mary complains about the saucer Jack gave her as a Christmas gift, and Don thanks Jack for the golf ball. Phil lists off his gifts, including the golf ball from Jack and a "cashier sweater." Dennis does a few lines, gets no laughs and decides to sing "All the Things You Are". A guy at the door joke interrupts, and Jack comments that the man (Jack's secretary?) had a head that looks like a cantaloupe with ears. The cast's plans for New Year's Eve are discussed, Don is going to the Florentine Gardens to see Sally Rand. Jack has a date with Gladys Zybisco. The cast breaks into a brief "Gone With the Wind" parody. Andy Devine shows up to and tells of his plans for New Year's Eve, taking his parents to the Wilshire Bowl, where Phil Harris plays. Gladys calls to tell Jack that she cannot go out with him. Jack leaves disappointed and runs into Mike, a studio guard who thanks him for the golf ball. On his walk home from the studio, he stops in at Ginsburg's for a cup of coffee. He orders from the waitress, who apologizes "Gee I'm sorry about that". Mamie couldn't work for her. Jack responds, "That's alright, Gladys." They argue a bit, and Gladys gives him his golf ball back. The cabbie, Joe, asks if Jack wouldn't like to go out with he and Mamie for New Year's. At home, Jack walks in and is greeted by Rochester asking, "Is that you Josephine?". Jack and Rochester talk about world conflicts. Jack's boarder, Mr. Billingsley, comes in walking on his hands, as per usual, and immediately turns in. Jack and Rochester then turn on the radio to listen to the end of the program. Mary is finishing a poem wishing good luck and a Happy New Year to everyone. Jack goes to bed and he and Rochester wish each other a Happy New Year. "Do I Love You" - Orchestra; "All the Things You Are" - Dennis Day

After he leaves, Osgood Conklin pays a visit to Connie. He wants her to babysit his nephew Stevie tonight from 7:30 until 10:00 for $5. Now she can buy her own ticket to the Club Jamboree. Miss Brooks arranges to meet Mr. Boynton at 10:00 PM but while she is babysitting she gets a call from Osgood and learns that he meant 10:00 AM the next morning! Mr. Boynton arrives and they look at record titles. He decides that he will stay with her rather than go to the Jamboree. Connie is excited until Harriet and Walter leave their party and return to the Conklin home to stay with Miss Brooks. Connie is disappointed. Blanche calls Dr. Smith to examine Chris/Charles and tells him that he has been a victim of amnesia, hospitalized until May and then he took a job as an insurance clerk. His only identification was a belt buckle with "C.A." so Blanche called him Charles - a name she always liked. He lives in an apartment at 5713 N. 18th Street, Philadelphia. A month later Chris runs into Judy, who also lives in Philadelphia now, working as a copywriter. Chris doesn't drink anymore. Chris thinks Judy will take him back if he is free, so he kills Blanche, and then when Judy won't take him back he kills her. The police knock at the door. Chris jumps out the window. Then he wakes up from the dream. He is hospitalized from a fractured skull when his by a vehicle in Park Hospital, Philadelphia. It is January 5, 1947. There is no identification. other than the belt buckle with "C.A." on it. Miss Blanche Thompson, a nurse, suggests that his name is Charles - a name she always liked.

This reminds me of Ricky Nelson’s untimely death in a plane crash on New Year’s Eve 26 years ago.
