I didn't see a Rush thread today ... Walter E. Williams hosted for Rush today, and had Thomas Sowell on as a guest. It was GREAT! My question: was anyone listening when the caller asked Walter about Romney? Just as he was answering the caller, I got interrupted and didn't get to hear!

I love Walter E., and I love Thomas Sowell. It doesn't get any better than hearing the two of them talk politics with each other!

It's been awhile since I visited Walter's homepage -- thanks for the link!

Last Christmas, I got his book "Up From the Projects" for my dad, who's as big a Walter fan as I am. The book is really, really enlightening. Made me like Walter E. Williams even more than I had previously. He was a bit of a rebel! He didn't take crap from anybody.

I can never get my dad Thomas Sowell's books because he always pre-orders them and has them before anybody!!!

I, too, became distracted during Walter's exact response but felt that Walter artfully dodged a specific answer only to say that no President could do what the caller attributed to what he "thought" Mitt could accomplish.

He said that the authority to accomplish much of that was from Congress and also said that he was looking to the candidate that most supported the Constitutional principles and also flatly stated that most of our early leaders could not be elected to office in America today!

He then switched to taxing one person to pay for another as a clear violation of the Constitution.

Thanks for the report. I expect Walter E. is as disdainful of Romney as I am. And I love it when he goes off on one of my pet peeves, the minimum wage. He and Thomas Sowell talked about it. I sure wish those two guys’ material was required reading in every elementary and high school. One of the things about the way they write, especially Thomas Sowell, is that the language is simple, direct, and even pretty sophisticated concepts are clearly stated. Anyone who understands English can understand the message.

"Anyone who understands English can understand the message." A huge problem today even in the non-immigrant population as "edukashun" is so awful that school children are never taught basic understanding of English words, let alone how to think!

Share the following message with whomever you wish. It was published many years ago, utilizing Walter Williams' warning about the negative consequences of minimum wage laws on families and those who most need work experience and earnings. His words were true then, and he repeated them on Stossel just this week.

Dr. Williams understands and has been teaching, speaking, and writing about the tragic consequences of the so-called "progressive" policies which Democrats have inflicted upon Americans--all in the name of "helping" them.

Slavery to government is no better than slavery to individual masters. Yet, the "regressives" continue to buy power and influence by promoting policies that destroy opportunity, prosperity, and freedom for our own and future generations.

I was struck by Walters story of how as a child he worked the trains for $30 a day and how that pissed off Union men making $100.
Then they discussed how minumum wage and child labor laws had removed these opportunity’s from our present society.

Sowell agreed that we have lot’s of strong youth that are barred from working in air conditioned offices today, because it might hurt their delicate emotional state and that they may be abused as beasts of labor

Sowell,Thomas,Dalrymple, Rush et al rightly recognize that Nannyism and making the world want to be treated as victims is in fact cruelty in that it robs men of dignity.

Williams and Sowell are on my list of great thinkers and I could listen them them converse all day.

The caller who asked about Romney was saying how smart Romney was and Walter pointed out that the world has been messed up by some very smart people so he put little credence in that. He said it was more important that a President believed in following the Constitution.
