If I want distinctive doors I'll stick with the 300SL.
(actually got to drive one back when they were more of an oddity than collectors item)

Shows several MK VIII's that haven't been made since 1998.

Side impact reinforcement is removed. Guess one could just call it a added 'crumple zone'.

Also noted that the chick in the backseat could step out 'cause the front seat was all the way forward (and both chicks were short).

If it were in a home, they would be called “pocket doors”.

Not new idea. Not a strong door, but is conserving of space.
