He likes the cheap booze and available women, if that makes him happy I guess it is OK. I have heard some awful things about the Philippines .............. trying to remember......... crime, hot and humid, poor health care, low life culture......... no thanks!

"This was not a terrorist act by the ASG, but by a hostile competitor of a roadside bar/saloon (aka sari-sari). It happened outside of Camp Navarro, a Filipino Naval Base in Zamboanga."

Oh yeah. Right.

I'm ready to move there any minute now.....

I might retire to there. At least I would know that the Filipino government is corrupt but at least ZERO would not be the CinC, there.

Glad you’re so happy, 2nd division!

Sounds like you found your paradise. :)

My son recently married a Filipino girl and not only is she drop dead gorgeous, she’s also very polite and respectful.

She always called me ma’am when she got here. I told her “mom” sounds better. :)

The only thing that would worry me is what you describe as the driving habits.

My new DIL and another Filipino friend both had brothers killed in car accidents.

Other than that, it sounds like a beautiful place to live!

I’m not the author of the article. I’m 51, not 68 and my wife is American. I’m just considering places to go for retirement or bug-out when things get worse.

Oops, sorry ‘bout that!

I’ve heard mostly good things about it.

Gotta say, my son said they treated him like royalty there.

He must like it, he’s been back there several times.

No problem. I’ve heard some good things, too. They seem more family oriented than we are nowadays.

"I would rather head to the Outback of Australia"

Where everything that walks, runs or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your eyes for ju-ju beads.

Seriously, the outback is an awesome place and the night sky is litterally jaw dropping.I've stood under those skies staring up and after a few minutes realized my mouth is hanging open LOL.You won't get any dramas from the neigbours either, they're about 400 miles up the road.

Tell me more about those four young ladies, and the one sweet lady (by FReepmail, if you prefer), as I’m about your age and considering a move.

“San Miguel is...a quality beer”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve lived in the Philippines, and drunk San Miguel. Some bottles are decent. Some...well, some San Miguel is what they bottle after cleaning out a fishing trawler.

I sell San Miguel, along with coke/sprite, and ice in my neighborhood.
I have never had a bottle that was any different from another.
It is considered to be a quality beer.
I sell it for 25 pesos (57 cents).

San Miguel , which I occasionaly quaff here in Japan , is more or less a typical lager but has a large fluffy, white head that lasts with nice lacing . Smooth taste . A refreshing beer with a crisp finish . Certainly better than the BIG brews in the USA like Bud , Miller , etc...
Very drinkable .
