Nothing wrong with Glocks. I’ve been a Glock guy for twenty years.
I just found out XDs fit me better.

Going to get my son a Savage .22 rifle. The pellet gun we got him was crap and I figure it’s time to get him a REAL rifle.

I got a new Galco concealed carry holster for my Sig Sauer P239. I like it so much that now I think I need a Galco for my S&W 640.

Make sure you understand the point of aim, point of impact, issues inherent to the Five seveN before you choose the fixed or adjustable sight model.
You’ll save yourself some rude surprises!

I got a Ruger SR1911 - All American made Stainless Steel Classic and a Galco G119HO “cop” CC holster.
My wife had help in satisfying my “wish” list.

It was a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, but my great uncle gave me his old single shot 16 gage break open, full choke shotgun. I really wish I had kept that gun.

The wife wanted a gun ... anybody have any suggestions for what type to get as a first-timer?My choice is a S&W 640 loaded with .38+P cal. ammo. It's simple, holds 5 rounds, and it's hammer is out-of-the-way and cannot catch on anything.

Sandy Claws was good to me and my wife. She found a S&W 442 .38 +p and I found a Hi-Point .45 carbine. Have had a 9mm for some years and love plinking with it, but have moved my carry and home protection pieces to .45. Saw a flyer from Hi-Point last year announcing a .45 model. This was the first one I have seen. Looking to take it out back when the rain stops.

Ultimately, they will be for personal protection at home. Does anybody have any suggestions for what type to get as a first-timer?I imagine you will get plenty of suggestions. I would get the Judge if your budget allows or any shotgun for home protection. A .380 is a good and small carry weapon, but a 1911 is better.

You already have several suggestions of a short barrel revolver, and I'll second those. Easy to shoot in a stressed situation and very reliable. If you have a friend with a good selection you can let her try several sizes and power levels of revolvers and autos and see what she likes the best, then start comparing brands and features.

Does anybody have any suggestions for what type to get as a first-timer?If you're keeping it at home, a great way to go is a 357 magnum with a 4" barrel, loaded with .38 special ammo. It will be very easy to learn, very easy to use, and very easy to hit what you are aiming at—again and again. When you gain experience, you can switch to 357 magnum ammo for that extra punch, but bear in mind that in a home defense situation, you will be indoors in a confined space without ear protection and if you fire a 357 magnum round or a .45 round that you will probably damage your hearing.
