Gov. Martin OMalley said Thursday that he was surprised and very disappointed when he learned that Richard Stewart, a member of the Governors Redistricting Advisory Committee, pleaded guilty last Thursday to failing to pay almost $4 million in federal Social Security and income taxes for a company he owned.
We had gone through the vetting process, OMalley said when he appointed Stewart, a Prince Georges businessman, to the five-member committee that drew the new lines for congressional and legislative districts. Its beyond me how anyone would take an appointment like this and not disclose he was under investigation, said the governor.
OMalley said he only learned of the plea in the last 24 hours.

Oh, what a surprise. Another crooked DemocRat.
I bet the governor was just shocked beyond belief.
95% of Democrats are crooks!

That right there should have told him the guy wasn’t honest
Prince George’s County is what keeps O’Malley Steny Hoyer and other Democrats in office.
O’Malley knew what he was picking.
He must be a Democrat, because the article does not mention his party affiliation.
If he were a Republican, he would be identified as a Republican both in the title of the article and in the first paragraph.
If he passed such scrutiny, imagine how well vote security is handled in Maryland?
Bwahahhahhhahahha! O’Malley is surprised and disappointed he was caught! Welcome to the freak state!
Of course, the article follows the usual rules of not calling him a Democrat, leaving one free to assume he was a Republican on a bipartisan commission. The only way to be sure he is a Democrat is that his affiliation is not named.
