Yes Popcorn was a legend around east Tennessee/western North Carolina. I remember watching his moonshine making instructional videos way back in the early ‘90s. He thumbed his nose at authority.

My grandpa made moonshine, and my Daddy ran it in the 1940s, but they didn’t advertise it (LOL) like Popcorn did.

I met Popcorn in Todd, North Carolina back in the early 70’s. He was at the General Store and treated me to a ‘taste’.

Ended up buying 4 quarts. Holy cow that was a good year!
