Great story but some of the comments about the story are sickening.

I’d suggest that anyone that hits this thread go to this page which is linked in the yahoo piece:

http://www.foxsportshouston.com/12/18/11/Joyful-day-for-soldiers-widow-at-Texans-/landing_texans.html?blockID=629146&feedID=3551

While the Texans did a good thing here it was a samll thing. They have little or nothing to do with the house itself. That is being handled by the Bay Area Builders Association which is part of the Greater Houston Builders Association:

http://www.ghba.org/committees-and-councils/bay-area-builders-association.html

The yahoo article makes it seem like the Houston Texans football team gave the house. They did not!

I know some of the people who are driving this project in Alvin Texas and who have built numerous other houses for veterans and their families. I can tell you without any hesitation that they would care less about how badly the yahoo story is written.

The Greater Houston Builders Association and the Bay Area Builder Association should be applauded for what they are doing here and what they have done in the past. That is my view but the people I know that are doing the real work would look at this yahoo piece and shrug their shoulders. They really are not doing this for the recognition. In fact, some of the same people that will be building this house do a lot of other things for veterans that the public will never hear about. That is the American way and I know that these kinds of things go on all over the country.

If you want to get involved contact the folks involved. Or give to the Wounded Warrior Project. Many times one of our wounded heros sees their families at their bed side first then the Wounded Warriors second. They do an amazing job.

We can all help our veterans in some way. Please do so today. Especially in this season. Help a veteran.
