TRENTON The state will pay a Pennsylvania family $5 million in damages for the physical and sexual abuse their adopted daughter suffered as a baby while under the care of New Jerseys Division of Youth and Family Services.
The state settled with the family today after a jury awarded damages, plus attorneys fees. Because the state chose to settle, the jurys verdict is vacated.

I understand that kids in custody and fostered are 10x more likely to be abused.
Of course if they become Hollyweird actors they are probably 50x more likely.
I think the girl who was abused should get the money, not the adopted family.
I agree 100%. For one thing, this girl was not adopted at the time of her horrible abuse. Secondly, the money should be placed in some sort of trust to provide psychological/medical etc... help for the girl. Any money left should go directly to the girl at an adult age. IMHO.
