Vanity: Chrissie Hynde's vegan restaurant closes ("economy")
The Vegiteerranean ^ | 12/15/11 | raccoonradio

So I'm on a radio discussion board and people are bringing up Rush's use of My City Was Gone (lyrics etc). I pointed out that the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde owned a restaurant in Akron. Oops, past tense: (Oct 2011) "It is with great regret that The Vegiterranean in downtown Akron has closed its doors for the last time. This has been a labour of love for me for the last four years. We tried everything we could to keep the restaurant going but unfortunately due to the current economic climate this has not been possible...Your friend, Chrissie Hynde"

I had been in Akron earlier in the year and a friend took me to a great Italian eatery, Luigi's; he said it was right around the corner from Hynde's eatery (he'd heard THAT place wasn't too hot). Who knows, maybe the vegan food tasted more rubbery than Firestone or Goodyear products. This is the woman who once said on stage, "Are we at war yet? Bring it on, I hope the Muslims win! Down with the economic s--- this country represents!"

Maybe Obama was going to change it all, though. Maybe there would be hope for her, as a business owner. But...it was not to be. As far as I know, Luigi's (salad, sausage pizza, beer) is open and has been since the 1940s I believe.

Yeah, except serving food normal people would actually pay good money to eat. Nature has a way of weeding out stupid people

LOL - even the royalty payments Rush makes to Hynde couldn’t keep her vegan hash house afloat in Akron.

Howie Carr list ping. “It would take a heart of stone not to laugh”—Howie

Meanwhile if you’re in Akron have some nice NON-VEGAN
pizza at Luigi’s! (Inspiration for the pizzeria in the
comic strip Funky Winkerbean)

After Limbaugh agreed to donate royalties to PETA, she let him use the song.

I haven’t visited a more depressed place than Akron.

After a hard day at work at the tire factory or wherever, the average worker looks forward to all-veggies at his favorite restaurant...yeah right.

I was at a BBQ place in Somerville MA (next to Boston), Redbone’s. They have the Combo—you pay $8 or something and get chicken, ribs, and veggies (all you can eat? can’t
remember). People at table next to me had one woman who was a vegetarian. What to do? No problem; when the plates arrived she gave him the meat on her plate and they donated
veggies from theirs.

The problem with these types of businesses is that 90% of your employee pool are dopey, tatooed, entitled, OWS-type leftists.

They are, for the most part, the worst employees possible.

Its why I don’t go into Whole Foods any longer.

In Akron? I’ve only driven through it, but it seems like another Toledo. I call Toledo a giant Ypsilanti. That’s not a compliment.

Her signature song "My City Was Gone" is Rush Limbaugh's theme song.

She's probably going to live on the royalties he pays her to use it. Ha ha.
