Re: Christmas carols in Latin and “Silent Night”

Gabz....Send me a link.

Also....When did it become a conservative or Christian principle or value to **force** Christianity on other people's children and to **force** taxpayers to pay for it? That's conservative? That's Christian?

Also...It isn't religiously neutral for the Christian children! A few sprinkles of Christmas cheer does not make a godless school into a God-centered one. Chalk one up to “diversity” ( cultures being equal, you see. /s ) Unfortunately, the children risk learning to be casual and lukewarm in their relationship to God. Do you know what Christ does with the lukewarm? He spits them out of His mouth! When did it become a conservative or Christian principle to **force** children into a situation where they risk learning to be lukewarm and casual about their faith, or to **force** taxpayers to pay for this religious abomination?

Socialist K-12 schooling is a tuition-free, entitlement, and socialist goody. Why not use that government power to acquire LOTS of free entitlement goodies? That is the lesson children risk learning when they attend their local socialist school. FDR was not an accident. He was the result of one to three generations of voters learning to be comfortable with socialism by attending compulsory socialist schools.

As for my “extremism”, I have been richly rewarded in personal satisfaction to see my ideas, even my exact wording and phrasing, picked up by the mainstream conservative media. Why? Because it is true.

Personally....I think it is time that our nation's socialist K-12 teachers explain themselves. They need to come up with justifications for why they would support teaching in schools where children must think and reason godlessly just to cooperate in the classroom. How could it possibly be otherwise? Maybe you could explain this to me? Why would they hand out textbooks and assignments that support and uphold a godless worldview? Who in their right mind would do that to another parent's child and force taxpayers to pay for it? When did this become conservative or Christian?

Personally...I am at the point that I will not have a teacher from one of our nation's K-12 socialist schools as a friend. Period! Simple! I am done!

But...Gee! Thanks for concern about my downfall. I trust that your concern is genuine.

And...If I am painting with a broad brush send me links to government owned and run K-12 schools that are God-centered (that means every minute of every school day, because that is the very definition of God-centered!). Send me a link to a government owned and run K-12 school that isn't a socialist entitlement tuition-free goody. I have asked these questions many time. No one has ever sent a link.

The teacher does upper level math. If it’s anything like the classes I had, we didn’t discuss anything else. I was always working hard just to get the math down. No time for politics.

It makes no more sense to assume a teacher is a sell-out liberal because they receive a taxpayer funded check, than it does to assume a soldier is a sell-out liberal because he receives a taxpayer funded check.

Am I to asume that you are a graduate of a college of education? Is **this** what they are teaching in the nation's colleges of education? Huh?

A fundamental responsibility of government is to provide for the national defense. It is one of the major reasons we have government and that government is necessary.

Education is not a fundamental responsibility of government.

Re: Christmas carols in Latin and “Silent Night”

Gabz....Send me a link.

First off, I did not say Christmas Carols in Latin, I said one Latin hymn. Is your reading comprehension failing that badly?

Secondly, how, pray tell am I supposed to send you a link to a concert held in the school last week? You are being utterly ridiculous. Either you believe me it occurred or you don't. If you don't, that is your problem, not mine, but I was there and you weren't and my daughter is in that chorus.

Also....When did it become a conservative or Christian principle or value to **force** Christianity on other people's children and to **force** taxpayers to pay for it? That's conservative? That's Christian?

What force? No one is forced to be in chorus, and no one is forced to attend the concerts. As to the taxpayers, well if the standing room only crowd is any judgement, I would venture to say no one had much problem with it. It is well known about this class and there is always a waiting list to get into it. I don't think it would even be offered if there was a problem with it. Do you?

Guess what? Not everyone has your God centered look on life. You have become so fanatical that you are not even paying attention. People are capable of having varying different circles in which they interact that may or may not overlap which have no bearing on their faith in God. I have one circle made up of the parents of many of my daughter's school friends, another circle are from my church, and yet another is from my leisure time. There are overlaps and all are enjoyable and have no bearing on any of us when it comes to our faith. You give our children far too little credit, but that is your personal problem.

Socialist K-12 schooling is a tuition-free, entitlement, and socialist goody.

No, it is not tuition free because it is paid for with tax dollars. What part of children being taught that did you not understand?

I really don't know why I bother saying anything to you because you refuse to consider everything is not as you see it in your extremist tunnel vision view.

Personally...I am at the point that I will not have a teacher from one of our nation's K-12 socialist schools as a friend. Period! Simple! I am done!

EEK - what a horrid attitude. I'm shuddering at that. What a thing to teach children. I would never do such a thing, deciding someone is unworthy of your "friendship" because of their job? How elitist of you.

But...Gee! Thanks for concern about my downfall. I trust that your concern is genuine.

What is genuine is my belief your extremism will be your downfall. You have your followers and psychofants(spelling intentional,) but your extremist attacks will not bring about any changes.

It does not matter that defense is a legitimate role of national government and that education is a questionable role of national government. (Since powers not specifically assigned to the fed are left to the state or to the people, that makes education an issue that locals can enact if they so desire.)

A person who works in either should not be assumed to be a sell-out just because they receive a government check.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

By upper level math do you mean Calculus for science and math majors? This is the first time that I have heard that Calculus for science and math majors was required for education majors. Calculus, by the way, is a fundamental gateway course to upper levels of science and math. Personally I don't consider Calculus to be “advanced”.

Personally, I think all teachers in our socialist K-12 schools should be required to take the **same** calculus I course as science and math majors ( sitting side by side with them). No, most teachers do not need calculus for the subjects they teach but it will assure two things: 1) they are smart enough to be worthy of the job, 2) they won't communicate their math phobia to their students.

Well?.....Since you use the military example then I suppose you support drafting teachers to work in the government schools, imprisoning them, and/or shooting them if they are deserters.

Does that help you understand the difference between being a soldier and a government teacher in our nation's socialist schools?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

By the way, I have never used the expression “sell out”. I merely state that working in a government owned and run socialist K-12 school is in complete conflict with conservative and Christian values and principles.

Do I need to restate the reasons again?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Tsk! Tsk! You are name calling and being personal in your posts. This remark is direct at me **personally**. However...I do not report these to the moderator is it much better for them to remain for all to see.

But....Actually, I take your comment as a compliment. Those who have sound principles are elitist. Think about it. If a person doesn't have principles they might as well roll around in the mud with the pigs.

Name calling? No, I leave that up to you. I made reference to something you said, which is not a personal attack no matter what you choose to think.

I do find it rather amusing that is the only comment you could make about anything I stated. Interesting.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When was any child or parent handed a tuition bill at their government assigned socialist K-12 door? Hm? Link, please.

And....A social service that is paid for by tax dollars is the very definition of ( drum roll, please!) **socialism**! Socialist K-12 schooling is a tax paid, single payer, social service. It is also compulsory for all those who can not find an alternative because:

1) The socialist single payer, monopoly, price-fixed, government K-12 schools have created a hostile business environment for private schooling. We **will** see the same with Obamacare.

2) In many homes both parents must work just to pay the compulsory, single payer, socialist K-12 school levies which they are forbidden to direct to any private alternative. This will become more oppressive with Obamacare.

If government schools look like socialism, walk like socialism, and quack like socialism, then I conclude that they **are** socialist!

Yeah! Yeah!

This is why I never ask the moderator to remove these posts. It is far better to let them stand for all to judge.

No, you can not have a link to my property or state income tax bill. With that said, your attitude is actually getting to be rather silly.

What part of choice do you not understand? You preach as if the concept of property taxes paying for public schools is something new. You also preach that people who choose to take advantage of that for which they are paying are leeches on society. Sorry to burst your little bubble, but you are wrong on both counts.

If government schools look like socialism, walk like socialism, and quack like socialism, then I conclude that they **are** socialist!

Since I have found you to be so wrong so many times over the years, your conclusions mean absolutely nothing to me.

Also...teaching is not an academically competitive career. Low SAT scores, community college followed by a local state university with **minimally** demanding courses and no science and math courses ( or grossly diluted courses) is all that is needed. And...Sadly, too many masters degrees in education are a joke.

My daughter is an AP Calculus teacher and she would completely agree with you. Somewhere along the line while majoring in math at Boston College she decided to get certified to teach. Although she was enrolled in the highly competitive Business school, she had to take some classes in the Boston College School of Education. She affectionately referred to it as the School of Dead (instead of School of Ed) or S o EEEEEEEz (instead of SoE).

She does say that she's noticed in the last 5 years or so that many of the teachers fresh out of school are not the idiots their predecessors are.

I’m talking about a high school math teacher. And, yes, the upper level courses in high school end with calculus and/or AP calculus.

But, sometimes it’s just easier to be contrary.

As a military retiree with quite a few years of service, I am aware that the draft has not been around for some time.

A local community has absolutely nothing preventing them from voting to establish schools, of voting to fund them, and of voting to provide for their management.

Pursing teaching is entirely voluntary as is pursuing a military career is entirely voluntary. The military is, of course, a much more restrictive lifestyle, but we know that going in.

I agree, and the purpose of my many posts is to persuade Freepers that this must change. Compulsory socialist K-12 schooling is a violation of their fundamental First Amendment Rights as a human and freedom of conscience. Another purpose is to warn them of the danger socialist schooling is a threat to our very existence as a free nation.

As for me, personally, I am done with socialist school teachers. No more! I will not have these people as friends and I now work to keep them out of my life as much as reasonably possible. I will not have a person for a friend who **willingly** takes a job that crushes First Amendment human rights and freedom of conscience. I will not have for a friend someone who knowingly or unknowingly is destroying our nation and undermining the faith of the nation's children.

As a military retiree with quite a few years of service, I am aware that the draft has not been around for some time.

Comparing teaching with the military is not a valid comparison:

** Education is not a fundamental service of government. Defending the borders is. We have 150,000 years of human experience as proof.

* Young men ( Note that it is men only.) register starting at age 18. Why? They do this so that if needed a draft could be quickly implemented. When has this ever been the case so that society could provide for the staffing of socialist schools?
