Where was this man crush on Newt when Cain and Perry were sitting on top and Newt was in the single numbers? They hated Newt then and you could rarely read a kind word about him on FR. You know its just because he is beating Romney that they flock top him like moths to a flame.
Newt Gingrich has done more for American Conservatism than any other politician, with the exception of Ronald Reagan.
He led the takeover of Congress in 94 by his own will and ideas. The Contract nationalized the election and Because of Gingrich the Republicans booted out the Dems for the first time in 40 years.
His achievements from 94 up through 97 are legendary. He willed Clinton into welfare reform, capital gains tax cuts and balancing the budget.
...and he wasn’t afraid to fight for conservative principles, shutting down the government (which Clinton actually did)...but the lib media spun it and eventually the Conservative Reformer Gingrich was attacked by the scum bag pork barrell GOP’rs.
After 97, it was all down hill for the GOP Congress.
Hey, given the option of Romney and Newt, I would take Newt. The problem is that we get few options due to the MSM and our own Republican (inside the beltway) leaders.
I think Newt is the smartest politician of my lifetime.
In case you’ve missed the obvious... The MSM seems to continue to pick our candidates for us. They use polls and articles that condemn our selections. Eventually, we seem to gravitate toward their ultimate choice.
A bit strange it seems - that Conservatives continue to fall for this.
I agree that he is smart. That alone does not make a good President. He also has had ideas of a “Progressive” nature that is the anti-Conservative ideal.
Which Newt are you supporting?
Well, when the msm constantly fools the American people with the Repubs are stupid meme, yes, Gingrich avoids that attack.
It also helps to have somebody that will knee cap Obama in the debates.
The one that is beating Romney :)
And someone told me that someone who knows someone who knows someone has told me that Obama wins 4 states.
This is indeed rare air. Newt’s AVERAGE on RCP is now 35 ... only one other candidate has even had a single poll where they got over 35 (Perry, twice).
Boom Shakalaka Boom
Great! Will take Newt over Romney! Not sure what that will get us but at least it might be a reprieve.
At any rate, if the progressive results of both Democrats and Republicans continue we will be doomed to worse than Europe.
Not really sure if any candidates have or can address this issue. Keep spending until we are bankrupt seems to be the best way to get voter approval these days.
With Gingrich's nomitation, the fate of the nation is sealed.
We were given this one last chance (2012). We're blowing it.
May God have mercy on our children.
I still expect Obama to win regardless of the GOP nominee. I really have that much faith in the electorate.
Something for those who have taken an “ABSOLUTELY NOT NEWT” stance to consider; In spite of anything Newt may have said in the past, when he was lightyears away from being POTUS, I believe we are dealing with a completely converted Newt at this point.
I base this on his recent books, DVD, etc. The DVD was a review of all the scriptural quotations and appeals to Providence which are sculpted into the government buildings in DC, as a rebuttal against the lie of Separation of Church and State. The latest book is “A Nation Like No Other,” which describes the Founding of our Nation as it truly happened.
Newt at various times in the past, has spoken out as a Progressive and an admirer of Roosevelt, Wilson, et al. I do not believe he still holds those views. I believe Callista and her parents led him to faith in Christ.
Finally, building on that belief; If Newt were to be elected POTUS he could go one of two ways; As a Progressive, continuing on a path somewhat like Zero has us on right now. Or he could do what I think he has ALREADY TOLD US he intends to do by his writuings and his Contract With America, etc. on his website.
Our Nation is at a crossroads in several respects. It’s make or break time. The next President will either repeal Obamacare, fire the Czars, cut taxes and spending, etc,. and set us on a path toward recovery and prosperity, or he will preside over the conclusive slide of our Nation into bankruptcy and oblivion.
Newt does NOT want to go down in the annals of History as the one who completed the destruction of America. He knows that if he turns our Country around and salvages our Freedom, our Liberty and our Greatness, he can EARN the right for himself to be remembered as the Second Coming of several Founding Fathers rolled into one. I believe to my soul, that Newt’s vision at this time is to be the man who returns The United States of America to her Constitutional Foundations. I believe that is the intention behind his pronouncement that if he becomes POTUS he will teach a History Course on our Founding, on the net or on TV.
I believe he intends to knock the fallacious “Separation of Church and State” lying hoax into the round file, where it belongs, and teach the people about the Godly underpinnings of our Founding, which is REALLY what made us a GREAT NATION!
Romney is desperate. I’ve heard him on the radio and TV lately and you can hear the desperation and confusion in his voice. He doesn’t understand what’s happened. The establishment assured him that it was “his turn” and not to worry about a thing. All he had to do, they told him, was brush his teeth and play it steady down the middle - - don’t rock any boats - - and everything would be taken care of.
All of the belt-way Republicans are against Newt... that ought to tell you something.
As to supporting him, it is only at the point of he is better than Romney.
Ah, always nice to welcome another of our naive commentators. Actually, I really feel for you and what you might say in the future. Keep up the good work!
Tried that and it did no good - good luck in your endeavor.
Po' Shep. The shweet dear's mascara is gonna be running with tears on the night of November 6th, 2012.
