....might wait for a Fire with free 3G...I'm new to the tablets with the exception of my wife having a nook. But anyway, what do you mean free 3G?? I thought you had to pay for service? Or am I just misunderstanding you?

The Kindle Touch and Kindle Keyboard both come in 3G variants. I know, because I asked Santa for a Kindle Keyboard 3G for Christmas :)
The Kindle Touch’s 3G is gimped. All you can do with it is access the Amazon store and Wikipedia. With the Kindle Keyboard, you get full access to the web. The downside to the Kindle Keyboard’s 3G is that because it’s not a touchscreen device, navigation is somewhat more cumbersome.

Works great. I use it instead of the laptop now. I have WiFi in the house and also use it at work.

It won’t synch in the menu option? I use my son’s Android phone, several computers, the Cloud, and my Kindle, and all synch.

I got an iPad for my granddaughter. My Kindle has a keyboard across the bottom. I do get some of the newer books on it. I just can not hold a hardback anymore. I still use it for games, especially word games.
