This isn’t exactly rare. This type of thing has been going on for some time. It’s no doubt going to get worse.

Ping.

Are Zetas operating as police impersonators in the United States?

The Zetas did not start out as an independent cartel — they began as hired guns for the OTHER cartels. Many of those who self-identified as Zetas were retired from various branches of the Mexican military — most notably the Grupo Aeromóvil de Fuerzas Especiales (GAFE) special forces soldiers who had received excellent tactical training and conducted extensive operations in which their combat experience refined their skills to very high levels of effectiveness.

A fair number of them probably are police.

Mexican police, that is.

This is one of the most “hesitant” articles I’ve ever seen.

“Well, some people have suggested that it might be something like this, but others perhaps think that this may or may not be the case, or something else entirely.”

The police response to the police response.

It will be interesting to see the result of a confrontation between SWAT and SWAT especially if the fake SWAT is using military hostile area tactics.

There is some corruption in American police departments, and there have always been a FEW police officers who cooperate with the mob. That may involve things like warning them about raids, or looking the other way when drug operations go down, or letting gambling clubs operate as long as they keep their businesses discrete.

It may also involve raiding and jailing smaller criminals who threaten to compete with the gangs.

This is nothing like the scale of things in Mexico, where the police and the gangs can sometimes be indistinguishable.

What’s worrying is if that kind of really large-scale corruption spreads here. America has always had some corruption of politicians, police, and others, especially in some of the big cities like Chicago, New Orleans, Baltimore, Detroit, and so forth. But there is a tipping point where America could become a third-world country. And that is now becoming a real risk.

We'll know that they fully have adopted police tactics when they start shooting the family pets.

Reminds me of the story in the movie "Traffic" where an american congressman gets the DEA to assist a Mexican general in a drug raid in Mexico. Turns out the generalissimo had his own drug operation and the raid was on his competition.

Corruption is rampant in Mexico (the article points out that at times it's hard to tell whether it's cops or army or gangs doing the raiding) and it's no surprise that these tactics have moved over the border.

I don't like what this guy's implying in this excerpt:

"It’s not news that a number of individuals now known to be affiliated with criminal gangs have joined the United States military so they can be trained and sent overseas to get battlefield experience which can subsequently be brought back to the streets. We know there are “training camps” all over the country in which “Militias” of Sovereign Citizens are working on their tactics and throwing thousands of rounds downrange to sharpen their skills. And we know that through the broad availability of surplus police vehicles, look-alike and actual police uniforms and equipment, as well as unscrupulous or unwitting trainers providing bad guys with training, we have a serious problem looming ahead."

He's inferring that because our guys are trained in the Military and come home, or are law-abiding 2nd Ammendment people - that they're going to flip over to be corrupt murderous unscrupolous thugs like the scum in Mexico. That's unfair to say the least and sounds like the Liberal claptrap of Hitlery/Obama/Durbin/Holder, et al.
