Yes, I agree children should be protected from these things.

But the US and europe is exporting such things to Asian TV and film and MTV type videos even on such “family friendly” places like Glee. ( I live in the Philipines).

What is worse is that they combine programs aimed at teens with with a materialistic/greedy lifestyle which implies being rich is good, living “green” is good, but ignores the traditional values of thrift and hard work and caring for our neighbor and the poor.

Sigh.

I have many friends either in or from the PI and it used to be quite different, a generation or so ago.

To help our kids remain kids as long as possible, we live in the country, homeschool, let our kids watch very limited TV and other things. We also teach our kids how to think for themselves. We definitely don't teach our kids what to think. They are up on current events, know science well and have no idea how to be a racist or a bigot. They care for and feed the homeless and serve in soup kitchens.

Our kids are very well adjusted, excel in sports and musical instruments. I've also taught them how to defend themselves.

God has really blessed us with some great kids who impress everyone they meet.

So while it isn't easy and even family makes it more difficult at times, it's possible to raise kids right. It's definitely worth it!
