Now that both political establishments and the media has driven Herman Cain from the race for the GOP Nomination with empty allegations, that did not measure up to any smell test, the truth of the matter is that Cain was driven from the race because he was not part of the political elite class on both sides along with the media that has selected out candidates since 1993.
When Cain first entered the race, both political establishments asked, "Why was he even in the race having never held public office," but even as his unconventional campaign started to appeal to Tea Party Members and Americans sick of politics as usual, then came the tagline that he was only in the race to sell his book. Despite all these talking points being forge by the political establishments and the media, even more Americans were drawn to Cain's 9-9-9 plan which lead him to front runner status in what was suppose to be in a already decided race between Romney and Obama.
The Republican and Democrat Establishments thus had to remove Cain from the race because it could not have the American People throw it plans into total chaos as Cain was not part of the political class that cuts deals in the back of smoke filled room and tries to sell itself as Conservative and Liberal as any Mr. Smith goes to Washington Story lines are complete unacceptable in the eyes of the media and the establishments.
Cain's withdrawal from the is clearly a victory for the Alexrod/Rove/Media Machine as they will be the ones, who give us the candidate that will face Obama and right not it looks like for the GOP that Mittens Romney will be that nominee!
DITTO. Problem is sexual harassment by a powerful CEO against subordinates and etc is not uncommon. Public can believe that it is possible. Like it or not when Cain settled with the women when he was head of the NRA, it does not make him look good. One accuser is not a problem, but four accusers is another thing. One does not need the establishment to hurt him, he did that to himself in the past and now it came back to haunt him in the present. In politics, your enemy never grants you mercy. They are in it to win it.
Sorry for the late response, but I just got back to this thread and find myself in violent agreement ;-) In fact, that question from the Florida AG was the first one to Newt on the replay of Huckabee I just watched, so it’s fresh in my mind.
First, I was impressed then and again now with Newt’s response to the immigration question. I’ll admit to being one who took a few swipes at him over his previous debate position, but his solution makes good sense and is practical. I don’t know to what extent the AG was actually asking her own question vs. reading what was prepared for her, but I do grant your point - which was my own point, also. That is, we are all human, warts and all, and we certainly are subject to the same psychology that everyone else is. However, knowing that, we might be able to hold ourselve to a higher standard, actively challenging and really thinking about what we are being told vs. what the truth might be.
Even though I was and am a Cain supporter, I too felt that sinking feeling when the allegations came out. But then I did my own research to find the facts, and found very few, other than the - as you put it - lies repeated over and over. The message I gave myself was “Wake up! Don’t buy this crap or you’re giving up your power to someone you never would trust otherwise”.
Maybe if it rises to the “Dan Rather level” most of us would detect it, but we owe it to ourselves to really exercise critical thinking habits, and make sure we separate what we are told from what we truly “know”.
I dont want to hear any of this ‘West for Prez/West for VP’ crap again. It is unfeasible. It is impossible. They will destroy him, too. Black conservative threat. Bi-partisan elite cannot have this disruption of ‘the order’.
If there is anyone who commie ‘RATS hate worse than a conservative, it’s a black conservative.
I agree with you. Unfortunately, we are surrounded by sheep. How many times have you seen posts on FR by someone who:
A) Didn’t even read the excerpt at the top of the thread, much less the entire article at the link (they only read the headline and immediately start posting).
B) Didn’t read the posts already made to the thread, where their question or statement is already addressed.
C) When specifically prompted to read the article, they still don’t. They claim they don’t have time or other such nonsense, yet they are still posting on FR over and over again, for the next 2-4 hours. No time. Right. (LAZY and WILLFULLY IGNORANT)
We are a nation of sheep, blind sheep, being herded by the DOGS of the Media and the establishment / beltway elites who dictate what we will do and think.
George Will’s comments about Cain today were some of the most disgusting words I have seen on television. I will never watch that man on TV again.
Don’t forget - Ronald Reagan was probably gonna lose to Jimmy Carter in 1980 - just before the biggest landslide in history.
Anyone who believes ANYthing the media tyranny alleges or reports any more without independent verification is a fool. Next thing yanno, some woman will come out of the woodwork and on the basis of her words alone, every media outlet will spin it and the resulting furor will tank a presidential candidate...
Accept that the press is not using a level playing field when it comes to election journalism.
Mark Halperin (sp?) defended such bias in the 2004 election when he helmed ABC News’ political coverage and again in 2008 when at a newsmagazine (Time?) he totally suppressed coverage of John Edwards’ bastard child while giving play to erroneous rumors of an affair between John McCain and a lobbyist.
Even with McCain’s favor from the media elites, he was not safe from such attacks (which are generally used only to turn off the conservative base from voting, not to make anyone switch their vote).
In 2004, the media spread a false report that Bush was bringing back the draft. When it was made clear that ONLY Democrats had authored the only bills bringing back the draft, the “yutes” said that they still harbored ill feelings against Bush over the initial report and disgust all around because “now I don’t know who to trust”.
The media beats a drum. In the case of 2004, Viacom (parent company to CBS and MTV) repeatedly interrupted reality programming to warn kids of the Bush Draft coming to send them to Iraq.
They are worth LESS than worthless. Anyone giving them any attention is MIS-INFORMED.
This primary is already over. Just like the last one was over. Backroom deals cut by names most never heard of and a few we have like the GOP's version of James Carville. Newt will agree too be Mitts VP and our nation continued on course for it's trip to Liberal Hell.
I have long thought that from our national morality our leaders reflect what we deserve. They are either blessing or judgments. Thus my tagline. People need to think back and remember it was The Moral Majority that was a grassroots spring board for Reagan. As a result we got a decent POTUS and as a nation prospered. As our national values declined since the end of Reagan's term so has our quality of presidents.
I believe that Cain and Keyes before him both had the potential to be another Reagan. I also think if Hillary Clinton changed parties tomorrow and ran for POTUS as a Republican we'd likely see a good number of posters in here saying what a great thing for the GOP. The GOP had a huge influx of DEMs come in to the party during the 1980's - mid 90's. They forgot to leave the liberalism behind and brought it with them.
After almost fourteen years as a conservative member of FR it's disheartening to hear that I am perhaps being called a 'useful idiot of Axelrod,' a 'RINO,' a 'drive-by conservative,' a 'white hooded pharisee,' a dupe of the liberal media or the ruling Republican elite, and more by fellow FR members because of my choice no longer to support Mr. Cain. It is disheartening to hear that I may have made 'blood enemies.'
FR members should not have to justify decisions of this sort on FR. However, because there has been a call for an inquisition, a purge of suspected RINOs, or whatever you wish to call it, I feel a need to speak out. Im certain other FR members who were uncommitted chose not to support Mr. Cain or chose to remove their support from Mr. Cain for similar reasons to mine and I do not believe it fair that they or I be called these names or be called out as suggested targets of a purge by zealous Herman Cain supporters.
For one thing, there is an assumption that my decision was based entirely or in great part about the truth of allegations regarding Mr. Cain and women. In fact, other categories of issues were the deciding factors.
I became concerned about Mr. Cains lack of knowledge about U.S. policy and foreign policy issues. I considered some instances more than mere gaffes. I disagreed with Mr. Cain when he said I'm not supposed to know anything about foreign policy. Most of you probably have different opinions that I do regarding that, and I respect your right to view the issue differently. Please respect mine.
As a long-time listener to Mr. Cain on WSB radio of Atlanta, I had formed the perception years ago that Mr. Cain used only a thin veneer of facts on his show and relied on his charm and humor. I assumed that was a designed part of the show. Now I think his depth of knowledge of these matters really is veneer thin, based on his answers to questions. Mr. Cain is still charming and witty, but Ive become worried that he exhibits a trait that many successful business leaders have: he immerses himself in people who know the facts for him. I respect that a President must select excellent advisors and cannot be an expert on everything, but I expect him to know more than a veneer of facts about key issues. That was a judgment I made unrelated to the women.
I grew concerned with misstatements that at best were unintentionally but, to me, materially misleading, such as identifying the 9-9-9 plans main economist as Rich Lowrie (from either Ohio or Texas; in the debate Mr. Cain used both states in about a twenty-second span, but I forget things under pressure, too). Mr. Lowrie has no economics degree nor training in economics. Hes a trained accountant at Wells Fargo. There were similar statements that were business as usual for Romney-esque politicians; but Im not voting for Romney and I didnt expect them from Mr. Cain. My concern over misleading statements was a judgment I made unrelated to the women.
A seed planted earlier over Mr. Cains announcement of and full commitment, and then upon questioning backtracking from, plans such as 9-9-9, began to grow. Was Mr. Cain truly committed to those things he said he was committed to? Or only until he was forced to defend them? It appeared that he would equivocate when forced to defend a policy, such as apparently changing stances on abortion. My concern had nothing to do with the women.
In my opinion, Mr. Cains campaign staff presented itself as unprofessional and incompetent in preparing Mr. Cain, in addressing the policy gaffes and actual errors, in handling Mr. Cains backtracking from positions, and so on. Mr. Cain is not responsible for the first error. In my opinion, he is responsible for them when they continue to face palm. That affected my opinion.
Neither Mr. Cain nor his staff appeared to be able to handle any crisis, from the seconds of silence on Libya, the other policy issues, the allegations of sexual harassment, the Ginger White friendship, or other issues. I need a President who can handle the crisis the country is in. If he cant handle Ginger White, when he knew about her, or something as minor as his ineptitude at answering the Libya question, I had concerns about handling a major crisis. That was my judgment.
There were several Captain Queeg moments. When three days after the first Politico 'light-on-facts' story, Mr. Cain's chief of staff Mark Block identified Curt Anderson by name as the only person in the world who could have leaked the story to Politico and Mr. Cain backed him up and the disclosure was accompanied by the statement that Anderson was identified through some kind of linear logic (not through a leak to Cain) that was my first people in the Cain campaign are wearing tinfoil hats moment. There were others. It was my opinion.
So I made my decision. I was not an easy one.
When the first accusations came out in Politico, I am on record in FR as saying, multiple times, that I was suspending judgment until the facts were known and suggesting others do the same. I wrote that multiple times.
I admit I find it ironic that those who fled Mr. Cain are accused of failing to suspend judgment until the actual facts are known.
Each time an accusation against Cain appeared, or a new tweak in a different post, hundreds and hundreds of FR members who supported Mr. Cain immediately called his accusers "skanks," "sluts," "streetwalkers," and worse, and who said their charges were false because of the women's weight, hair style, amount of makeup, or facial pockmarks. To me, those sounded like people failing to suspend judgment until any facts were known. When I read posters state with Gospel conviction that all charges against Mr. Cain are baseless and that any idiot would know that in minute, it appears they have failed to suspend judgment until the actual facts are known.
Instead, if Mr. Cain says the charges were baseless? That will be immediately accepted as fact. Theres no suspension of judgment. Theres no waiting for facts. If Mr. Cain says there was no affair? Supporters of Mr. Cain werent going to suspend judgment. It was accepted as fact that THERE WAS NO AFFAIR. Anybody who suggested waiting until more facts came in was a Romney-bot or Perry-bot. And if the supporters of Mr. Cain first told us Ginger White was a complete liar (you know, in the interest of suspending judgment), but Mr. Cain later, in drips and drops, said she was a long-time friend, and that hed given her money, and that his wife didnt know about it, and that hed spoken with her on the phone . . . each little disclosure was the final line in the sand (a judgment made without facts). Anybody who crossed it was a RINO, or a useful idiot. Until Mr. Cain made another disclosure and it was necessary to draw another line in the sand (a judgment made without facts). And then necessary to draw another line.
So. I chose to drop my support for Mr. Cain. Theres no need to go through my decision and try to pick it apart. Im not trying to convince you or anyone else to drop their support for Mr. Cain. Thats a personal thing and anyone would be ill-advised to make a decision based on what I say. Research, research, research. And consider the source of information. But respect my decision and reconsider calling me all of those nasty names. Around a campfire, if we didnt touch on this topic, wed probably have a good time and you would be surprised at how conservative I am (and how creative we could get at saying nasty things about Mitt Romney).
If you insist on having an inquisition to ban those of us who dropped support for Mr. Cain from FR, please send me a private mail message and Ill send you my schedule for the next two weeks so we can avoid conflicts. Unless this is one of those Star Chamber deals and my presence is not needed, because Im not allowed to present evidence or to cross-examine those who testify against me.
I respect all of you even when I disagree with you. And goodness knows I need your help trying to find somebody to support now. Forgive me for sounding harsh, but realize that I'm reacting to some pretty harsh things written about people like me.
Herman Cain is smart and personable. I like him. But to borrow from the name for the cast of the original Saturday Night Live, I've decided he's Not Ready for Prime Time. I consider myself someone who made an agonized decision after research and long consideration, not a useful idiot of Axelrod or a white hooded pharisee, thanks.
One does not have to say nasty things about Mitt Rommney. One needs only to cite Mitt’s quotes and positions he has taken on issues. Also, one only needs to tell the truth about Mitt Rommney.
The Democrat Plantation has many inhabitants. They come from all walks of life and are made up of all races, creeds, and colors.
How does one become a member of the Democrat/ Government slave plantation? Simple. One merely sells their soul to the Government.
You mean like this (one of a few, from earlier posts of mine):
