Yeah, that’s an oldie-bu-goodie. “Shut up and drink, tour barely even pregnant” is an awesome line.

“Pittsburgh Dad” is amusing, but it’s no “Greg & Donny.” Laugh track annoys.
Still waiting for Greg & Donny to show up on IFC.
OK, I have been away from W Pa for too long, the accent is just sounding like it is a Baltimore accent. Watched the Pgh dad clips, and the “basement pop” one was the funniest. “There’s a pitcher ofmlemon blend upstairs!”. I LIVED on lemon blend growing up. Did either of you ever have Sam’s pop out of the New Ken bottler?
The shut up and drink line makes me LMAO every time I hear it!
I have been fooled by a Baltimoron a time or two into thinking they were from the Burgh, It’s pretty close in some respects. But while exaggerated, this s def western PA. I was chatting with the garage guy at the consol center and when we walked away xsjr said— wow, he really did say dahntahn . My kids recognize a yinzer when they hear one. Gotta love the burgh. I sent that to Paula and she was like OMG I forgot we called it jumbo! She has far more of a residual Pittsburgh accent, despite her ivy league med school education, than I do.
And OMG yes, Sam’s pop. New Ken, hillcrest, matrons heights were central to my childhood. You could mix and match pop flavors in yer case which was cool. Did you ever have, was it Tom Tucker pop? I recall it was ginger ale and my gram would get us the mint ginger ale for Christmas eve Ukrainian dinner at her house. I always thought champagne must taste like ginger ale and was disappointed as an adult when I finally tasted it!
I loved jumbo. And I was disappointed when I got to the hoagie mecca of the world, Philadelphia, and found that italian hoagies were not served with a packet of kraft’s italian dressing, like every school hoagie sale came with. My younger sister was just lamentimg that she didn’t bring home enough chipped ham after thanksgiving. I never liked chipped ham, tho. I could really go for some St. Vladimir’s Friday evening pierogies! you know, the kind made by the church ladies for fund raising.....
St. Vladimir’s in Arnold......
I have never been to St Vladimir’s but there is an Orthodox church here in Annandale that sells pierogies on Friday during Lent (either eat-in, or to go), and despite my best efforts i haven’t made it there yet, but am determined to make it this year. xshub, xsjr and i did make it to the Greek Catholic church in Northeast DC for their Pysankyfest during Lent last year and they had food and OMG was it good! we are DEF going back there this year. It was hilarious bc we had gone to Mass at our little dago church in DC near my ofc (we have since joined it, we love it so much)that same day [basically weren’t up for the 2 hour Greek Catholic mass] and it was their lasagna dinner day so it reeked of garlic, and we got the the Greek Catholic church it reeked of cabbage!!
No Sam’s pop here, we got Cherikee Red made down in Kecksburg (famous for the alien ship that landed there).
They still have the Tom Tucker ginger ale and mint ginger ale here. The mint stuff is horrid to me, so I can’t agree with that.
oh i loved me some mint ginger ale and if i am not mistaken it was GREEN!
I think I remember Cherokee red. Cherry pop? Wow, that sounds good to me right now....
Cream soda was always disgusting, and there’d always be a bottle or so of that in the case. I think maybe my dad liked that and he was slipping it in.
Of course it’s green. How could it be mint, if it wasn’t green? That would be like being cheese without being orange.
gingerale tastes way better than champagne, and i LIKE champagne.
