UCLA has fired coach Rick Neuheisel after four seasons in charge of his alma mater. Neuheisel will be allowed to coach the Bruins (6-6, 5-4 Pac-12) in Friday's Pac-12 title game at Oregon, the school announced Monday. Offensive coordinator Mike Johnson will be the Bruins' interim coach if they earn a bowl berth. Neuheisel is 21-28 since taking over the program in 2008, never building the momentum he needed to reach his goal of challenging Southern California for city supremacy. UCLA made it to just one bowl game in his first three seasons, winning the EagleBank Bowl in Washington, D.C., in 2009. The Bruins will represent the Pac-12 South in the inaugural league title game on Friday despite finishing two games behind postseason-banned USC in the division standings.

50-0 on national tv is one thing.
50-0 to your rival to go 0-4 in your tenure is another.
A Bruin tragedy. He should be the 1/2 time show at the coming game with Oregon complete with stripping him nude and whipping him out of the stadium. Losing coaches get off too easy now days.
I remember those USC-UCLA basketball games of the early 70’s. Sometimes USC would do the four corners delay tactic to try to beat the Bill Walton led UCLA teams.
University of Tennessee could hire him and upgrade their program, that is how far they have fallen.
LOL...I like it!
More like "Pizza the Hut", Weis is so fat, even Mark Mangino told him to 'eat a salad once in awhile.'
I concur, but with the Reggie Bush sanctions imposed (including forefeiture of a National Title), USC will fall in the abyss when Barkley and a few others leave early for the NFL after this season.
Dream On.
The Trojans will be fine without Barkley,Matt Kalil, and Nick Perry.
Coach O is one of the best recruiters in the country.
75 total schollies is enough to win the Pac 12.
The Trojans didn’t forfeit a national title—only the Bogus Championship Series trophy. They are still the 2004 national champions.
Neuheisel’s biggest problem is laziness and lack of attention to detail.
So far as I can tell the successful coaches work their butts off.
UCLA’s current problem is that it has a history of not paying very well for head coaches; and even worse for assistants.
Kiffin isn’t going anywhere. Even with recruiting restrictions, they are a top 10 team.
It’s a shame. USC/UCLA used to be one of the college game’s great rivalries.
Back in the day (60-70s) there were about six rivalries that were must-sees:
Ohio State v. Michigan
Nebraska v. Oklahoma
Oklahoma v. Texas
USC v. Notre Dame
Notre Dame v. Michigan State
USC v. UCLA
The only people who cared about the SEC was the SEC.
Agreed. I suppose his likely position in the draft will be the deciding factor, but otherwise I think it makes sense for Barkley to return. He hasn’t received the attention he deserves or that his steadily improving numbers demand thanks to USC’s bowl bans, but next year he could contend for the BCS and be one of the undisputed marquee quarterbacks in the country with plenty of attention.
