I would never describe Alekseyev as rotund. He was a massive bull of a man, built like Atlas must have been. None of the “cut” pretty boy build, but more of the look of a man that could eat armies.

He included the statement, "Must have belly that will stop bullet", and he certainly did. Nothing pretty about him, but he was the epitome of brute force in his day.

Most modern day weight lifters, with a few months of training and dieting, could compete as bodybuilders. They are not nearly as "Fat" as they were back in the day. Alexeyev was definitely old school.
