ROSEVILLE (CBS13) A local man says the latest movie in the popular Twilight franchise triggered a seizure, and similar incidents have been reported in theaters around the country.
Brandon Gephart and Kelly Bauman said they were watching Breaking Dawn: Part One at a theater Friday night when Brandon sudden began convulsing during a graphic birthing scene.
Brandon said he doesnt remember anything until he woke up on the theater floor, but Kelly said he was, convulsing, snorting, trying to breathe.
He scared me big time, she added. Paramedics transported the man to the emergency room and the theater had to cancel the rest of the movie for that showing.
Several reports on internet movie sites show reports of other people suffering similar symptoms during the same scene, which contains flashes of red, black and white. Dr. Michael G. Chez, the medical director of pediatric neurology and epilepsy for Sutter Sacramento, said the reports indicate the scene may be triggering an episode of photosensitive epilepsy.

nation of Sissies.....
Well, THAT trick outa’ get them in the theaters.
I had a cousin die of this. His seizure was in an arcade and a doctor who was also in the arcade could do nothing to save him.
Which is why modern video games avoid flashing lights in that frequency range.
This phenomena is well enough known that the studio has no excuse or defense should anyone suffer the same fate as your cousin.
For that mater, The Andromeda Strain used it as a plot device.
(sorry to hear about your cousin)
Ah, yes the fountain of blood scene from the book. Not my words, the exact words of that hack of an author.
I’ve only seen the first one when it came on TV.
Overdramatic teen drama with a lot of pointless dialogue. Its OK I guess but not really for me.
If you aren’t watching it with the Rifftrax commentary (from the MST3K crew), you really are wasting your time. With the commentary, it’s comedy gold.
Not really.
This happened with a Pokemon episode in Japan...

I made the mistake of watching “Eclipse” without commentary first...man, that was dumb.
It was epileptic, not from being overwhelmed from the movie.
Is MST still alive? I used to love that show years ago. What is Rifftrax?
Saw the film and that specific birth scene did not show any graphic details, but for the baby who was being held in their arms which would be like any child after he or she is born born and not yet cleansed. A beautiful child.
The mother had chosen to have the child and not abort, no matter if her life was at stake, as the child was developing faster and at the same time larger than usual. It had a pro life message.
Perhaps the sipping blood through a straw caused the reaction of the person in the story--after all we are talking vampires etc here.
The loss of weight by the mother near the end was really realistic [special effects] in regard to more the skeletal arms effect.
It's a general audience movie where pro-life issues were discussed but of course no one is going to write about that. Also they chose to refrain from having sex til after the marriage. But no one chose to write about that. ;)

Obviously you don’t know anyone that has suffered seizures. It cannot be controlled if it’s going to happen. Yes there are medicines that can cut down on the frequency, but if one’s going to happen it WILL happen.
It has NOTHING to do with being a sissy. If you have the form of seizures that are triggered by flashing lights or other similar things there is nothing you can do except avoid those things. Who would think there would be something in a movie to cause a seizure?
My husband has had 2 seizures and doctors have no idea what caused them so he goes out of his way to avoid anything that could trigger them, including missing out on rides at Disney Land and Lego Land with our grandson for fear he’d have a seizure. Those rides at least have a warning for people with epilepsy.
Again, in your ignorance, you made a mistake calling people suffering seizures due to the movie sissies. Maybe you merely didn’t read the article but then please don’t comment.
Where are the statistics of how people get sick watching your average Obama speech?
Reverse Psych Marketing...reverse psych works very well when surrounded by teens and other rebels with mediocre causes.
I agree. This had to be a deliberately stupid decision.
I did not know this could be fatal though.
