"If you are so weak in your faith that eating a Butterball Turkey will cause you distress, then do not do so. But I will pray that you will move beyond this weakness."

1 Corinthians 8:12 - "When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ."

There is a reason that Paul talks about strong faith and weak faith. He wants us to move from weak to strong, not to stay in our weakness.

We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

So while we are stressed not to cause those who are weak to be wounded in their conscience, we are not supposed to coddle those in their weakness, but encourage them to become strong in their faith. Likewise, a weak brother is not to pass condemnation on a strong brother.

The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.

Those who are weak in their faith because they are new in the Faith are in the right place. Those who are weak in the Faith even though they have had plenty of milk need to be encouraged to move forward and eat the meaty teachings.
