Per vehicle mile traveled, motorcyclists’ risk of a fatal crash is 35 times greater than a passenger car.

I’d factor that into the decision.

I’m not sure if it’s similar for scooters

I’ve never had a problem.

But I also drive very defensively when I ride my scooter.
