The next time the problem happened, she wanted to go to the doc to get the prescription renewed. I told her no and bought a 24 oz. bottle of plain mouthwash at the dollar store with a 16 oz. bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Total cost $2.00 without the doctor visit and copay.
I mixed equal amounts in another bottle and it worked just as well as the $8 prescription mini-bottle. And I have about 30 oz. of my $2 homemade concoction remaining, which I gargle as prevention.
I wonder if I'm breaking any laws with my freelance home pharmaceutical concoction . . .
At least not yet as long as you don't prescribe it to others or sell it.
I would pay attention to the expiry date on the peroxide. The stuff make breakdown quickly.
Probably. Who cares? I wouldn't drink the stuff or spray it into my lungs tho. A cap full of the 1.5% to 3% stuff does seem to help with a sore throat gargle but you should flush it out shortly thereafter with normal saline. It'll eat your tooth enamel away if you're not careful, and gargle too long/too much and you may get a mild chemical burn which is more painful than a regular sore throat. Don't let it get into your sinus for the same reasons.
Fortunately your mouth/throat has some of the fastest healing tissue in your body...
