Oh, I don’t know about that.
Star Wars was exciting when it came out but it really doesn’t seem as potentially ‘real’ as Star Trek, especially now that there is a new series of movies coming out, the alternate reality Star Trek, which does seem to be entertaining.

Star Wars was basically a re-magination of the 1930s serials, such as Buck Rogers and Flash Gordan. The sequels were better, but the prequels are duds. Lucas simply does not know how to handle actors. Just look how how wasted the talents of the big names he hired. He was fortunate he had Alex Guiness in the first film. He had to let Guinness do his thing and give his character a gravity that pulled everything together.
