Good riddance! They don’t understand how the “American Dream” works I guess. It’s not handed to you. It’s not automatic just because you opened a dry cleaner. The kenyan isn’t making life easier but we still enjoy a butt load more freedoms than China ever will. You just have to know what to do and when to do it. Bye a-holes.

Can someone please explain we are allowing a million immigrants a year to enter while we are experiencing huge unemployment and paying out billions for unemployment compensation and other services. This is aside from the obvious outrage of illegal immigrants still being able to enter and be hired at will, and accept our social services.

Is there no common sense in DC or is it all based upon what interest or lobby has the biggest wad of cash?

I’m no historian, but it seems to me we’ve seen the same thing before. For instance; Italians at the turn of the last century. Things get tough in Italy and millions come to the United States. The the United States has an economic rough period and a large percentage go back to Italy.

Emmigration is tough. Not everyone is gonna make it.

Fortunately, the DiMaggios stayed.....

” there are many bigots on FR.”

There certainly are! I know quite a few Chinese. They are all now proud American citizens. They are Business Owners, Engineers, Chemists, Computer people, etc., etc.. Their children are all doing exceptionally well in school, and will be very beneficial to this country in the future. Oh! And they’re all Christians!

Agreed. I work with many Asians in the Automotive Business, and find them to assimilate into the American culture quite well.

Their moving to Vancouver.

My understanding is that you can wander some parts of Vancouver for hours and see only Asian faces.

when you spend 30% of your time providing for people you’ll never meet, who despise you, and you wouldn’t buy a beer given a chance... why would you continue to push?

the WH vilified success. colleges vilifies success. the under 30 crowd expects everything, not something, for nothing.

screw them

I’ve also been hearing the money flowing around china is massive. if I spoke the language... I’d consider starting a business there.

the political types, ie: progressives, have done everything they can to gut the American economic machine... and they’re just about done

Both are true. So is the belief that Americans native population is irrelevant.

I wonder what the gender of those heading back to China are? There is something like a 50-1 ratio of men to women in China. A woman of meager means and a good body could go to China and make a million.

An observation: A friend and I rode the metrolink to downtown LA to do the tourist thing for an afternoon. Walked around Olvera Street, downtown - City Hall (currently occupied by Occupiers) - several other neighborhoods within walking distance. Ended up at the old Chinatown tourist area for lunch. There was practically no one on the streets, in the shops and we were nearly the only people having lunch at one of the great restaurants. This was in August. Where were the tourists? Or residents shopping or eating? To say the area was nearly deserted is an understatement.

During the Japanese Occupation, my maternal great-grandmother ran an underground trading business (which was pretty much unheard of at the time in such a patriarchal society) that took her all over the Korean penisula, up to Russia and over to ports of call in China. She funneled the profits to her brother who was an active member of the resistance. Unfortunately he was caught, imprisoned and tortured. Upon his release, he died a short while later from years of being abused. Apparently her name is inscribed on a wall of honor in Korea. I’d love to see it some day. In order to protect her daughter (my grandmother, who at 103 years old, is still alive) from Japanese soldiers stationed on the Korean Peninsula, she sent her to be a school teacher in Tokyo. Several years later during the Korean War, my grandmother had multiple run-ins with Communist Chinese troops. Including one instance where they occupied her house (her husband, my grandfather had to flee, as all males were being conscripted or beaten/killed) and another, when they were in China, where Communist troops boarded a train she was on and stole everyone’s money, jewelery and valuables at gun point.

Over this 60+ year period, both the Japanese and the Chinese stole so much from my family and my mother’s people. I’m not too fond of either nation.

I’ve known quite a few Chinese women who came to the US to attend business school and get their MBAs. Most of them had husbands in China. They lead very comfortable lives when they go back.

These are workers and wealth creators. Not freeloaders.

I'm in agreement with you. The Chinese immigrant demographic has not been here to scam the welfare state. That's a broad statement of course, but one I'm very confident of.

These “conflicting” reports are about people who have enough money they don’t need to work who want to protect their assets. The article is about people looking for work. Totally different folks.

Actually, in economy China is more free in many areas, e.g. less regulation. Also, economy is growing so it is the place to start business.

My former coworker, us citizen of chinese origin, went back few months ago and got executive position.

Sad to see openly bigot freepers in this thread. I knew the anti-mormon bigot community is active here so maybe not a big surprise
