Yep...I had the same reaction. We’ve had nothing since the Civil War that could compare with what went on in Europe in that time period. Cohen was straining hard to pump up his thesis about wars in North America.

I agree. It may even be a small stretch to say that the Civil War compares with what happened to Europe during WWII. While the loss of life certainly compares, outside of the burning of Atlanta the devastation to the cities and civilian population does not compare. I certainly would not have informed Condy Rice to respond to Solanda of a comparison between skirmishes and battles that happened in North America 300 years ago to the devastation that happened to Europe during WWII as the author suggests.
