In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
verisimilitude; noun
1.the appearance or semblance of truth; likelihood; probability: The play lacked verisimilitude. 2.something, as an assertion, having merely the appearance of truth.
Etymology: 1595–1605; < Latin vērīsimilitūdō,equivalent to vērī(genitive singular of vērumtruth) + similitūdōsimilitude
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

I’ve seen the term verisimilitude used a lot with respect to role-playing games, particularly the fantasy genre. It’s completely unreasonable to expect “realism” in such a game, but “verisimilitude” substitutes as having the semblance of realism within the framework of the setting.
that’s an excellent way to describe the meaning of the word, by drawing that distinction. A++++

It’s been 4 weeks since I ordered the darn thing. I saw one in front of me at a drive through, it was all I could do not to go up to the other driver and demand my car! LOL

He doesn’t think he has done anything wrong. Why else would he assault children in public places? Living next to an elementary school was a good reason not to let him out on bail either.
