Even here in the Midwest (Chicago Metro Area) I know of a person who lost a dog (of course it was a very, very small dog) to what we think was an owl.

Our dogs are too large to be prey, but I’ve seen quite a few hawks here in the daytime as well. If I had an ankle-biter dog (fat chance!) I’d be hesitant to let it out alone.

Round these parts it would more likely be a 'yote or a fisher cat, after small unsuspecting house pets

Here in TN my two dogs, on an 85 lb. pitador and the other a 9 mo. old Greatr Dane (about 90 lb.) also have no problem with this. It’s also nice to have shall issue CCW. When’s IL going to get with the program?
