Let's assume that each answer has equal probability of being correct. If I choose A or D, there is a 50% probability of being correct. If I choose B or C, there is only a 25% probability of being correct. There is a 25% likelihood that I will choose any answer, so:

.25 * (.5 + .25 + .25 + .5) = .375

37.5%

Thank you for a short answer. I had gotten a decent approximation the hard way (Monte Carlo method).

I set up a spreadsheet with two columns of pseudo-random numbers from 0-3. If the cell in the second column matched the cell in the first column, OR if both were either a 0 or 3, I added 1, dividing by the total number of entries (in this case 1,000). So with 378 hits out of a thousand, I was close, but you were correct.
