Just throwing this out there to get other's opinions. I remember several accusations from his tenure as Speaker. Many complete fabrications. What do you think?

Newt will mop the stage with Obama in any debate.
Obama will look silly trying to avoid debates.

Newt was accused of misusing his educational program for political purposes.
The IRS later ruled that Newt’s use of his education program was textbook perfect.

Do I wish he hadn’t remarried 3 times? Yes....
Is that more important than the shortcomings of the other candidates?
NO!!

Newt is just one of many who can beat Obama.

My problem with Newt is that he doesn’t want to send ALL of the illegals home. He wants to let some stay, if they have been here a long time and have close ties to their community. Supposedly they would get work permits but not citizenship...well, maybe under Newt they won’t become citizens, but the Supreme Court may have something to say about that.

I still have a problem with that. First, it’s not too ‘heartless’ for me, but second it still provides an incentive for Illegals to come and try to stay. He needs to make everyone of them leave...that is the only way to prevent future floods of them.

Newt's problem is that he doesn't really mean what he says, and also that he has a nasty tendency to fold like a cheap suitcase at critical moments. He will never be able to run away from his personal life, nor will he ever be able to live down that picture with Pelosi on the sofa.

And then there was THIS:

Flashback: Newt Took $300,000 From Freddie Mac to Stop Congress From Making Much Needed Reform

Beware of Newt. He ain't all he claims to be.

This is 6 months old, but it’s the same as what he said when radio-interviewed in Houston this week. He seems to have a ‘soft spot’.

Newt is an establishment republican..much like Perry and Romney. Though a ton smarter than Perry and more conservative then Romney. Problem with Newt is he will cave to the opposition quickly and is really not what our country needs right now. To save us we need a radical change towards unwavering conservatism. Not another politician that is ready to go along to get along.

Newt sold out by taking $300,000 from Freddie Mac in 2006-2007 in defending it from conservatives call for reforming it....right before Fannie and freddie were involved in the Finiancial collapse

Its not shocking. Newt Gingrich is supremely qualified to be the President of the United States. I am leaning that way also. I love Herman but I think he would be better in the second place on the ticket.

The good news is that the media has been through Newt’s ‘baggage’ for years and there is nothing left to find.

And as to the doubters, he might can sell his late conversion to Catholicism as showing a new-found maturity.

I knew the man when I attended West Georgia College in the early ‘70s and he always had a curious and sharp mind that was constantly at work. (I’d like to see what his opinion on Global Warming is now after the email leaks from East Anglia)

It would be interesting to have a genuinely intelligent President for a change.

Better than Mittens, twisting with the wind. I have a hard time getting that picture of Newt and Pielosi sitting on the couch preaching about man-made global warming.

Newt knows how to play the game and if the media succeeds on destroying Cain then I could vote for Newt but I’d prefer Cain/Newt.

I don’t know how many Freepers are willing to get on the Newt bandwagon just yet, BUT I bet each one of them would buy tickets to see Newt debate Obama or Biden. That would be the the most one-sided debate in history.

Altho I despise Newts global warming nonsense and perhaps his stance on illegal immigration may be suspect as well, he absolutely kicked ass in the debates.

He makes a good 2nd choice behind Cain.

Several months ago I could not stand the idea of a Gingrrich nomination especially after his dripple regarding the Ryan Plan. But now, Newt is the most obvious choice for this country. He’s also the one most assuredly that’ll whip the child’s ass

Can he overcome the destruction that Big Media rained down on him in the 90s?

Probably so. The more important questions for me are these:
- Can I overcome the scorn I felt for him on hearing his position on the anthropogenic vector of 'global warming' coming right on the heels of having written his geothermal energy paper?
- Can I overcome my opinion that he's an Establishment Republican committed to little else but preserving the existing order in light of his support of Dede Scozzafava in NY's 26th District race given that she, when her position became untenable even with the support of luminaries such as Gingrich, threw her own support to the Democrat in the race as she was bowing out?

Not so shocking. Newt’s a smart guy. Better than a Romney or a Perry. Cain and Newt would be way better than the current socialist occupant in the White House.
