It'd be my guess, judging from parental experience, that it was either congestive heart failure or - probably more likely - pneumonia.

Both conditions arise really fast when old folks are immobilized for even short periods.

Pneumonia was the cause of my grandmother's death in '09. She passed at the age of 94.

If you can't appreciate the pure beauty of the violin after hearing this, something's wrong with your ears.

Or you can get raw with these strings. Either way, the violin is sweet yet lethal.
