My theory is all the women who grew up during the height of the feminist movement in the 60s and 70s are all now childless spinsters with 14 cats.

The longer I live, the more I enjoy the society of my 3 cats. They don't lie to me, they don't steal from me, they don't stop bathing and get stinky like my ex-husband. If you're nice to cats (and most domestic animals), they'll be nice to you, unlike a lot of people (including some women) who turn out to be thankless wretches.

I cannot imagine being legally bound to someone who after 10 years altered behavior and went a week in summer without a bath, who routinely lied to me, and who was so careless he had to be watched lest he burn the house down.

There are worse things than being "alone".
